Summer Road Trip 2015 Day 10 - The Drive back, Blackwell's Corner & Porto's

This was it, our last day of our epic 10 day road trip...

We left Paso Robles super early to beat traffic on the way back home.

This was July 4th after all and we wanted to make it for early dinner at my parents...

We made the obligatory stop to Blackwell's Corner, the gas station/rest stop/convenience store and restaurant with the big James Dean head and James Dean cut out. We've been here to and from our road trips in the past.

It was pretty hot and also very windy. It was also pretty dead as in hardly anyone there.

Bert's snacks. TC bought sour candy.  I bought a few Jelly Belly candy packets to give as gifts (not shown).

I also wanted to include that prior to our arrival to Blackwell's Corner, there was a crazy MF driving on the opposite side of the freeway that veered onto oncoming traffic, namely US.  WTF man.  I was driving my leg of the trip, then all of a sudden, saw headlights coming towards me!  I could't believe this guy was on our side of the freeway!

Bert noticed earlier that the asshole was trying to overtake three semi's ahead of him and then the dude went for it.  Well, I had to almost drive off the side of the road to avoid him. I was pretty freaked out and shaken up by it.  This is the kind of jerk that you wish a fiery and horrible death by car crash. I know that sounds mean, but the dude's selfish motives and careless driving almost killed us. Therefore, he should suffer. And no, I don't feel bad for saying or thinking that.

Bert drove the rest of the way home. This was our next stop before Burbank.

...where we parked near this place, The Jellybean Emporium, which sadly, we did not enter. It had all kinds of candy and memorabilia inside. We were really just there to go to Porto's, grab a few snacks, plus potato balls for the party and then head home.

Porto's wasn't as busy as I'd feared it to be. It's always packed in here but the lines move pretty quickly.

The goods plus my Cuban coffee in a cute and tiny paper cup with handles.

The coffee was super sweet from the condensed milk but I loved it.

Cheese rolls...a few were devoured shortly after this was taken.

Meat pies - beef and chicken.

Plus a bite of a potato ball (we had a whole box of them though)...

This is the name of the store...which was a few blocks away from Porto's.

This Monty Python shirt was in the window....

This is one of our favorite movies...here's just one of the more well known scenes...

A view of downtown LA while heading south on the 5...

We broke out with the dark chocolate peanut butter cup from the Cayucos Candy Counter. Look how thick that coating is!

The now defunct San Onofre nuclear power plant. Hmmm, I didn't realize the full and official name was the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS).

Add "tit" joke here.

View of the San Diego Fair in Del Mar - it was the last day, July 4th!

We made it back to Chula Vista safely...unpacked, clothes washed and all that before making our way to my parents for a family get together/bbq.
