we always make sure to go to Porto's...

It's across the bridge on their main drag, Magnolia St...
I always love gazing at their beautiful desserts. Just like at 85C, we like looking but we never get the fancy desserts. We were here for a few particular savory items that morning.

Flaky meat pie filled with spiced ground beef and their famous potato balls (also filled with ground beef)...

These potato balls are always a "must have" item whenever we go to Porto's. Lightly breaded on the outside and smooth potato with meat filling inside. We didn't eat too much here because we had few other stops before heading over to LA again...
We always see this Jelly Bean Factory store (it's on the side street next to Porto's). One of these days we'll actually have to go IN and check it out. We had a full itinerary ahead of us...

While en route to our next stop, which was a bakery, we took note of the evergreen garlands and wreaths still festooning the streets. There were also store fronts that still had painted holiday themes on them.

This one I liked this one so much that I asked Bert to park the car so I could take some photos. The store is called Creature Features which is a 2000+ square foot art gallery and emporium dedicated movie monster memorabilia. They also host book/cd signings; their current art show features the 80's movie, "The Monster Squad". Creature Features slogan is "Celebrating the Art of Fantastic Cinema".

Movie buffs will recognize Nosferatu...

Here he is in all of his German Expressionist glory
The movie "Nosferatu", directed by F.W. Murnau, dates from 1922 and features German actor Max Schreck (which in English, aptly means "fright") as the vampire Count Orlock. The movie was also an unauthorized film renditioon of Bram Stoker's gothic novel, "Dracula". This was considered mega scary back then.
as well as Bumble the abominable snowman from Rankin/Bass stop-motion holiday classic, "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" (1964)

Too bad the store was closed (it was early Sunday morning), otherwise, it would have been awesome to have seen it...
