Here's another item I've never made before, English Sausage Rolls.

The recipes I saw online looked easy enough. Of course, I chose the easiest one, this one was from AllRecipes.Com,
"
Mark's English Sausage Rolls"
Ingredients:
1 lb of pork sausage
(I got mine from Fresh and Easy but forgot the brand. All I know is that it was NOT Jimmy Dean's, but I wanted it but it wasn't there)
Puff Pastry Sheets
(I bought a pack of 10 squares from Vine Ripe Market; the recipe calls for "12" squares)
1/4 cup dijon mustard (I used Colman's instead, which isn't Dijon)
1 beaten egg
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F
Divide the sausage into ten logs
Brush the squares with the mustard
Roll up the squares with the meat log (ha ha)
Seal with beaten egg
Place on ungreased baking sheet
Bake for 20 minutes or until puffed and golden brown (I did mine a few minutes longer to make sure the pork was cooked within)
Below was half of the rolls. In retrospect, I should have cut them in half because one piece was already pretty substantial. These also came out pretty good for a first try...

The one in the front was cut open when I first checked to see if one was done. I had to put it back int he oven for a few extra minutes to make sure the pork was cooked. For the tea, this was to be served with Branston pickle (which will be featured in a few posts from now).
I love using premade puff pastry sheets. It makes baking strudels, meat pies, or sausage rolls so much easier!
