West Pac Noodle Bar

This post was originally written to go out in late January of this year, however, I decided to wait it out because I wasn't sure if we would revisit...turns out we didn't, for reasons which will be discussed later in this post...

But hey, enjoy this awesome view of the San Diego skyline while crossing the Coronado Bridge...

Bert and I were off to visit my mom...

Date night in Kensington: Pappalecco + Moosie's

TC was out on a "date"...It was her first in which her boyfriend picked her up (he recently got his license) and took her out. Alone...

After watching his car containing our daughter go up the hill, we headed out ourselves. If she can have date night, why so can we, heh heh.

Our dinner destination was in Kensington...

Not Cucina Sorella, this time but another place a few blocks away...

Recent revisits to La Concha - empanadas, fresh pan dulce & not so good coffee

Over the fall break and just this afternoon we enjoyed some pastries from La Concha, a popular Mexican panaderia in Chula Vista...

This particular visit was with Bert whohadn't been there in a while, plus, there was a coupon I wanted to use...

E.Vil Donuts

A few blocks away from Copa Vida was a relatively new donut shop...

it's right by the trolley line and Azteca taco shop.

Despite the mostly negative reviews on that four lettered site, I couldn't pass up the opportunity...

Cafe Mingei

Bert and I were at Balboa Park this weekend for the Balboa Park Centennial 2015 Philippine American Celebration (BPC2015PAC). TC was with the troup getting ready for their performance.

We didn't have our morning coffee yet and I'd been meaning to try Cafe Mingei, new coffee place next to late artist Nikki de Saint Phalle's whimsical sculpture, Nikkigator...

[Update - Closed. As of 11/2015, it is now known as "C'est la Vie, The Cake 'n Quiche Company"]

I was so happy that Bert took a day off during our last day of Spring Break...

We planned a day in points North, specifically Carlsbad...

Tam's Thailand Food or a place to avoid

If you've ever been on Adams Avenue, you might have noticed this strip mall.

It's west of DeMille's and right next to Mariposa Ice Cream...

Streetcar Merchants of Fried Chicken, Doughnuts & Coffee

Have you ever felt so blase about a post that you kind of put it off and keep putting it off until you kind of don't care anymore?

That's how I felt about this post...

Granny's Kitchen = Fail + return to the Julian Cider Mill

It's the return of the Julian posts...

I figure I should tie up loose ends before I end up forgetting about it. After starting off our day trying some Ass Kickin' Beef Jerky at Pam's Place, we found a parking spot a few blocks up a hill on Main. There was a breakfast place we were curious about...

Breakfast at Bottega Americano

We all had the day off (yay for 4-day weekends!) and thought we'd go out as a family for breakfast...

It's nice having TC with us during our morning excursions. We recalled seeing this place during our trolley adventure, Bottega Americano...

and despite our not so great first impression a few weeks ago after we visited Bean Bar...decided to give this place another chance...

Skybound Coffee & Dessert Lounge

Although we just had dessert earlier at Le Parfait, I wanted to check out a fairly new dessert place downtown...

It was just a few blocks west and gave Bert and I a chance to walk off our calories from that awesome almond and chocolate croissant...

Filippi's Pizza Grotto, Eastlake

I recently had lunch at the new Filippi's  with La Ley and Mr. TJ...

La Ley was curious to try the new Eastlake location, having enjoyed the other locations in San Diego. This used to be the old Eastlake Brewhouse, which closed unceremoniously two years ago...

Return to Aunt Emma's Pancakes

Earlier this morning Bert and I were out super early, like waaaaay early.

We dropped off TC with the dance company in the wee morning hours. They would be traveling to LA for festival performance. The night before our neighborhood had a scheduled power outage and the electricity wouldn't be on 'til 8 am...

House of 9 Dragons

[Update - Closed as of Summer 2015 - It is now a wings place]

One of our friends wanted to have lunch at this Bonita mainstay, House of 9 Dragons.

I hadn't been here in a long long time, like pre-blogging days, which makes is pre-2006. I think it has been more than a decade come to think of it...

Pho-ck This...lunch at Pho Time

Several days ago I was out and about with TC. We'd already gone to Corner Bakery Cafe and several other places in Mission & Fashion Valley for some freebies. Now it was time for lunch.

I thought I was being expedient by coming here since it was in between two other places I wanted to check out.

Of all the places I went during Spring Break, this was probably one of the worst decisions I made...

Elena's Greek Armenian Cuisine

After a day of viewing exhibits at the Grammy Museum and the Griffith Observatory, we only had a few snacks in between. Dinner was supposed to be at this tiny Armenian place called Moon Mart Kabob but we couldn't find it in the strip mall, so again, we went with Plan B...

which was Elena's Greek Armenian Cuisine. We figured, when in Glendale, (hich has a sizable Armenian population), we should have some Armenian food...

Return to Pho Fusion

Yesterday's lunch out was with my very good friend Astroboi...

We met up at the Mercury Village stripmall on the corner of Clairemont and Mercury. He suggested Vietnamese...

Our hairy experience at Solare

Last weekend's weather was beautiful, clear, sunny, and warm.  A perfect day to have lunch with the lovely Kirbie...

Liberty Station was our destination that day and we were hoping to not just have lunch, but perhaps check out a festival on site that same day...
