The market had basic foodstuffs for travelers. Unfortunately, their deli was closed for the evening so no ready made sandwiches were available (I was hoping to get some for the next morning)...
The photos on the trellis are of the Colombi family who founded the hotel years ago, 1933 to be exact (that's even older than my parents who were born in 1939). It is still being run by family to this day.
While they were out of sandwiches, they had a lot of side dishes (potato salads, coleslaw and the like) and desserts.
To make it even more convenient for travelers, the family also owns the laundrymat on the same block so if you were staying a few days and needed to wash your clothes, well, there you go.

As an added bonus, the ladies at the counter gave us some "about to expire but they're still good" snacks, namely Crunchy Cheetos. TC was quite happy about that. They said they would have thrown it out. The expiration date was only a day or two but hey, that didn't bother us a bit. The motel itself wasn't Hilton quality, but it was good for what it was. A place to stay the night with the basic amenities we needed plus our very own car port!
Dinner plans were on the fly. We knew we wanted to go downtown for dinner so Bert took over the dinner venue duties. After doing his research, he found something he thought we would all enjoy. I was already looking forward to it...
