This post is a couple of weeks late but it's been a busy summer so far. Earlier this month, the Filipino commmunity in San Diego put on a three day event showcasing the best of local and statewide talent through dance, song, comedy, and orchestral music...

Set in beautiful Balboa Park, the Philippine American Celebration was the first (and only) major event for the Balboa Park Centennial...and it was totally FREE!

Spreckels Theater

We were excited to be watching a performance at the historic Spreckels Theatre in downtown San Diego...

Although TC watched a play there in elementary school, it was one of those field trips we didn't chaperone.  Tonight we would be watching the Nations of San Diego International Dance Festival...

Parol Festival 2013

Once again, we attended the PASACAT Parol Festival held last Saturday, December the 7th at the Jacobs Center at Market Street Plaza.

I really like this venue. It's so beautiful, spacious and the folks working here are so very nice.

The Jacobs center's full name is the Joe & Vi Jacobs Center (they are seen in the photo montage in the background)  which serves this needy community and provides support for the arts and serves as a meeting place for cultural and community organizations.

This weekend happened to be a very rainy one but despite the rain throughout the day, people came and filled up the hall, which was very nice to see...
