Portland Day 3 - Otto's Sausage Kitchen & Meat Market

Still in the SE quadrant of Portland...

we headed to the Woodstock neighborhood for some exploration...

Sometime last month, I was in the area...

I had to stop because...

Right after our brunch at Dunedin, MFH and I headed down 30th...

and I remembered this mural next to the Jack in the Box...

We'd parked nearby on S. Centre St near W. 6th...

It was still pretty early in the morning so downtown was pretty deserted...

"Radiating Vibrance" mural @ La Palapa Market, Paradise Hill

Across the ways from the "Succulent Landscape" mural is yet another amazing artwork...

It's on the northeast corner of Reo Dr. and Cumberland....

Murals at Helen Knoll Memorial Community Center (aka The Brown Building)

Not too far from the Year of the Rooster mural was yet another great piece of art...

over on Poplar Street...

"Year of the Rooster" mural by Glow in Azalea Park alley

I walked past the park towards this alley...

located near the southeaster corner of the park...

The mural is pretty extensive - with a long wall that wraps around a house...

The mural was a collaboration between three artists, which include my favorite, Gloria Muriel (aka Glow.


It is entitled the Year of the Rooster and was inspired by the homeowner's chickens.


This is the left most portion of the mural. The following photos show the progress from left to right:

we headed down to Carlsbad for our second hit of caffeine, but also for  another main reason...

Every week I drive by this mural on E Street...

It actually used to be a totally different mural (story linked at the end) from 2006 up to 2012...

Return to Unidad Park and the Filipino American History mural

After our Tustin trio of treats, we made our way to LA...

specifically to this part of town...

where we last visited last President's Day Weekend (2015).

We were back again for our family's holiday card photo shoot...

Fire! More holiday art and yay, I finally made it - Finnish pannukakku

Earlier this morning before heading on the 805 North from H Street, I saw a thick black plume of smoke in the distance...

You don't see it anymore in the photo above since it was taken about an hour and a half later...

You know it's the holidays when you see these paintings....

This is actually a throwback photo from four years ago...

but nothing shows that the holidays are here in San Diego until you see store windows painted (usually by the prolific Dano)...

As seen in Little Italy

After seeing those poor cats get chased down by children from hell, we left the Cat Cafe to headover to Little Italy...

Using our trusty passes. You tap your prepaid card on the sensor thing before boarding. We found that it helps to do it way ahead of time instead of right before you board.

This was at the stop near the Convention Center.

We would be Little Italy bound...
