Bonchon, Costa Mesa

TC hadn't tried the Bonchon in San Diego yet but looked online to see that one was fairly close by...

when we came upon it, the place looked familiar...

San Pedro Road Trip - Breakfast @ Carl's + Bad Coffee, Costa Mesa

It's time to catch up on posts.  I'm juggling the Spring Break road trip, Carpinteria (I have yet to start it), our visit to the Broad, and now our mini trip to San Pedro to see a specific art exhibit.

Of course, our M.O. is the meandering route, with lots of stops in between...

Starting off the morning with some iPod roulette...

and bypassing all of the shitty traffic on the 405 by taking the 73 toll road...

Moscow Deli

In this strip mall with random businesses was our lunch destination...

No, not Mama Hong's, but the deli of Russian persuasion...

Pie-Not Strikes Back!

I didn't think it would be right to eat our donuts first then have something savory...

Bert and TC were of the mindset that it was okay to eat dessert first, but put off their donut eating until after our breakfast...

Return to Sidecar Doughnuts

This past weekend, I thought it would be fun to combine a mini food/road trip with a birthday party we were going to attend...

Bright and early it was as we drove out from San Diego, passing by the now de-commissioned "tits"  San Onofre Nuclear facility and up to the OC...

Pie-Not - The Aussie Style Bakery

Well now...we just had savory pastries at 85C, then hopped over to Bon Epi for a mac fix. Then we had a hipster "doughnut" next door at Sidecar.  We could NOT pass this place up especially since San Diego doesn't have a place like this...

and more importantly, because there was NO LINE!

This place seemed to be pretty new...

Hipster "Doughnuts" @ Sidecar

With the skies still gray and our curiosity piqued about this new donut place in Costa Mesa,

southward we went on our little food adventure with Cathy at the wheel...

Marche Moderne

As seen in my previous post, Bert and I celebrated our 16th wedding anniversary.

We were married at 10 in the morning and had a lunch reception at a bayside venue in Mission Beach with the reception ending at 5 pm. In our haste and excitement, we didn't think of packing other kinds of clothes. Now don't get the wrong idea! I seriously did not want to go out to dinner wearing my wedding dress nor did Bert want to wear his tuxedo. Plus our clothes for the next day were just jeans and fugly t-shirt and I did not pack regular shoes. I only had my white high heels, so we decided to order in.

Our nuptial feast for that night (and breakfast the next day)?
