Robitaille's Fine Candies + return to Carpinteria State Beach

Earlier we were curious about Robitaille's Fine Candies...

Sadly, it was closed. Several young boys on skateboards were also bummed out. We ended up coming a little later after having had pastries across the street at Reynaldo's Bakery.

Every town has to have a candy shop and Carpinteria was no exception...

Mendocino Chocolate Company

We were at a different town every day of our road trip. From Point Arena, we made our way to Mendocino...

A quaint seaside town reminiscent of Cape Cod.  More on the building above later...

This would be a short rest stop before gearing up for where we would later spend the night...

We're not big into antiques, but we do like our chocolate and there was a shop here calling our name...

After our amazing lunch at Supannee House of Thai, we saw that the Elegant Truffle was literally a few steps away...

We had to give it a another try...

Chego's Sriracha Bar

After our lunch at Philippe the Original and our brief visit to the nail polish heaven that is Skyline Beauty Supply, we walked on Broadway, one of the main streets in LA's Chinatown...

Caren from the Velveteria gave us a few recommendations we planned to follow up on such as this boba place located at this shopping plaza...

Pizza + the Belching Beaver Tasting Room

Near the corner of Grim and University....

is Fatboy Corner Store & Deli, which carries a big selection of fancy sodas. I just now noticed the new vertical deer painting.

Looks like they covered the old "Beer & Cocktails" sign...

(photo from my Around North Park...", December 2013 post)

Bert and I were planning to meet up with the Horns...

Chocolatier Blue

After our dim sum brunch in Emeryville, we wanted to grab some coffee, but first, there were a few stops along the way, namely on this stretch of University Ave in Berkeley.

Our original destination was a tea house but we weren't going to get tea there. Parking was a major pain so we parked many blocks away and walked it to where the tea shop was supposed to be, but along the way, we saw this shop first...

Chocolate?

Like the Millenium Falcon, we were inevitably pulled in by the Death Star-like tractor beam of this cute little shop...

Dallman Chocolates, Del Mar

While walking back to our car after viewing "The Art of John Lennon" exhibit, I saw this chocolate shop on the top floor...it was a few doors down from a dog bakery, of all things. Who the fk buys their dog cookies and cupcakes? WTF man!

Of course, I was curious but also a little scared...

Return to the Manitoulin Chocolate Works +Boo Bah Lou Candy Cabin

One thing about Manitoulin Island is that it's very peaceful and quiet out here...

The island is pretty much unspoiled by commercialism and "big box" stores, malls, high rise buildings, and fast food joints. It's such a different way of life from life in the 'burbs in SD.

C thought one last visit to her favorite chocolate place in Kagawong would be nice before we left...

This post detailing food or food related gifts is a little late but better late than never I say.

t's always nice getting unexpected treats like these, from the always charming Jenny of Jenny Wenny Cakes whom I met up with before Christmas time...

Mignon once again

Also in the same vicinity of Old Pasadena was a cute little chocolate shop that I'd been to several times before.

It was just up the street and around the corner from 'Lette Macarons...
