Coffee revisits - Heartwork Coffee Bar, Genteel Coffee & James Coffee on PCH

After our breakfast at Bread & Cie, D and I made our way to Mission  Hills...

It has been quite awhile since I was last at Heartwork...

We were supposed to go here first, but when I saw Seahorse Coffee, I pleaded with Astroboi to go there first...

As we were seeking parking in the East Village,

I noticed that there was a new coffee spot in a steel container...

It's been awhile...Bean Bar and Bake Sale revisits

and we still remembered how great the coffee was at Bean Bar in the East Village.

During a recent morning date, we made sure to stop by once again...

Return to Copa Vida

It seems as though our weekend ritual (if we are out and about, that is) is getting coffee after breakfast...

Bert hadn't been here yet and it was an excuse for me to come back to Copa Vida which is right next to Petco Park (they still don't have their signage but they are right under Fit, the gym...

E.Vil Donuts

A few blocks away from Copa Vida was a relatively new donut shop...

it's right by the trolley line and Azteca taco shop.

Despite the mostly negative reviews on that four lettered site, I couldn't pass up the opportunity...

Copa Vida

Although they served coffee at Center Cut, we wanted GOOD COFFEE...

so our next destination was downtown,

at the newly opened Copa Vida on J Street...

Living Room Cafe @ The SD Central Library

Bert and I originally planned to have coffee at Bean Bar across the street from the SD Central Library...

Unfortunately, it was already closed by 5:30 pm, then I remembered that the library had a cafe there...

Return to Half Door Brewing Co.

We made our near near Petco Park..

and enjoy our breakfast on the top deck...

Return to Coffee Tea & Collective, East Village

Taking the 5 to J Street seems to be the easiest way to get to the East Village...

Finding parking along Market has been relatively easy in the mornings before it gets crowded...

We wanted to visit this place once more...and OMG, I just noticed but does that little squiggle down at the bottom look like a SPERM?

Half Door Brewing Company

We didn't really have any set plans for breakfast places in the East Village.  We were walking around and heading near the Petco Park area when we saw this...

We remembered seeing construction on this older house last year during our morning date outings. Now, it looked like it was ready for business...

The house had been renovated as a new Irish styled brewpub...

Coffee & Tea Collective, East Village

Last month Bert and I went to check out the newest location of Coffee & Tea Collective...

having been to the original location in North Park...

The new place shares space with a juice bar ("Juice Saves")...

I didn't quite like (okay, I hated it) my iced coffee from the new Meshuggah Shack so I asked Bert if we could dp a return visit to Bean Bar...

which was just a few steps down the block...

Bert was keen on trying a pourover...

After our dismal breakfast (well, mine at least) from Bottega Americano, we walked up Park so TC could see the murals on the hArt Lounge building...

On our way there, we saw this bright lime green shipping container serving coffee...

It was the new location of the Meshuggah Shack (the original location is on Goldfinch in Mission Hills)...

We all had the day off (yay for 4-day weekends!) and thought we'd go out as a family for breakfast...

It's nice having TC with us during our morning excursions. We recalled seeing this place during our trolley adventure, Bottega Americano...

and despite our not so great first impression a few weeks ago after we visited Bean Bar...decided to give this place another chance...

The Bunny Kitty Mural on the hArt Lounge wall, East Village

As hoped and promised earlier, I would seek out the other Bunny Kitty mural I'd been most wanting to see (can you spot it?)...

This time in the East Village right along G and Park and the SD Trolley Line...

We were sufficiently wired from our coffees from the excellent Bean Bar and headed north on Park...

Earlier this morning, Bert and I went out on a "morning date"...

TC had her weekend volunteer gig so off we went to downtown's East Village...

to check out a new "craft coffee" bar near the Central Library, whose dome you can see in these photos...

After picking up TC in the morning, we had to drop her off at a marathon dance practice. We would be alone once again. It seemed so odd not to have her with us that morning.

One of these days, we'll have to visit the new Library. We love the look of it, especially the open dome...

We liked our first visit to Bake Sale so much that we had to return...

Roast Coach Coffee Bar, East Village

With the same numerical street address but a few blocks away was the second location of Roast Coach Coffee Bar, a small pour over coffee bar which had it's start in North Park.

This location is on the corner of 9th and J near the Southpaw Social Club, right on the edge of Petco Park...

It was time for my coffee fix...
