Pre Anniversary Dinner @ Cucina Sorella

We had just celebrated my parents' 50th wedding anniversary earlier today (their real anniversary is this Sunday)...I was wiped out and didn't want to eat leftover at home, so..

it was off to Cucina Sorella in Kensington for our "pre-anniversary" dinner...

Date night in Kensington: Pappalecco + Moosie's

TC was out on a "date"...It was her first in which her boyfriend picked her up (he recently got his license) and took her out. Alone...

After watching his car containing our daughter go up the hill, we headed out ourselves. If she can have date night, why so can we, heh heh.

It's been nearly a year since I was last here...

This time I would be in the company of a good friend and her younger sister (both former students in fact, class of '97 and '11 respectively)...

They wanted to take me out for my birthday and what better day than the very last day of my favorite month...

Pappalecco, Kensington revisits

Ever since they opened in early Spring, we've been to Pappalecco in Kensington a few times...

I had an online coupon that "needed" to be used, heh heh.

TC was with me during this particular outing...

S3 Coffee fail, so Plan B was take the long way to Subterranean Coffee Lounge

 I felt like a doofus...

Assuming that S3 Coffee was open on Sundays for some reason. I could have checked the four letter site and gotten my answer right then and there, but no.

The dark interior told us the same.  We drove all the way out here and our original plan for coffee was dashed, But not to worry since Plan B was up my sleeve...

Cucina Sorella

Last week, MFH, La Ley and I took Mr. TJ out to the new Cucina Sorella for his belated birthday dinner...

In hindsight, we should have arrived much earlier...

It was twilight time but still enough light to enjoy sitting on their outdoor patio.

Return to Sam Woo & Pappalecco (Kensington) for Astroboi's birthday crawl

Like how Cathy and her mister have their "favorite" parking spot when going to Ranch 99 (it's not in the main lots that's for sure), so does Astroboi.

Away from the crowds is always good. Going early to Ranch 99's Sam Woo for breakfast is also good.

Although we arrived at 8:30 when Sam Woo opened, there was actually a line...

Last weekend we had the pleasure of meeting up with the Horns in South Park...

Station Tavern was chosen due to it's dog friendly outside patio.

TC was excited to see "The Doctor" once again...

Moosie's Ice Cream

I recently saw an article on Eater SD about this ice cream place replacing a florist shop...

The article was dated May 28 and imagine my delight and surprise when I saw that it was now open!

I knew that we had to go here after our lunch at the Haven...

Mr. TJ's birthday lunch @ The Haven Pizzeria

La Ley, MFH and I met up with Mr. TJ this afternoon for some drinks and appetizers at his place in Talmadge before heading out to nearby Kensington for a late lunch...

It was convenient to come here since it's just a few minutes away from his house...

A movie we want to see plus two boy bands!

I almost forgot about this little excursion...just a few steps up was the Ken Video which always has cool movie posters on their window.

Last time I was here, the poster was the Australian film, "The Sapphires".

We'd been wanting to see the newest (although released in Japan in 2011) Miyazaki film, "From Up on Poppy Hill" for the longest time, but someone was hogging the only copy at our local Blockbuster...

The Haven 3x

It was hard going back to work after having had one week off. Then again, I'm not complaining since some folks might not have had the same luxury. Our mantra at work is...three more (actually two and a half) more weeks!

Last week I gave TC the choice of where to go based on the coupons I had and she chose Kensington...

She said "Kensington" the way Austin Powers says, "Oh....Mrs. Kensington!", hahah....

She wasn't feeling it for Mexican or Ethiopian food, so pizza it was!

Before Cathy and I went off for dessert, we took a walk up the street. I wanted to show her the yarn bombed public library located right next to the sign...
