NEX - 32nd Street

The day after Christmas most folks head over to the shopping mall to get stock up on half price stuff like wrapping paper, Christmas candy, clothes, or whatever. Earlier this morning, Bert, TC and myself stayed clear out of the mall's way and hung out for breakfast and snacks in North Park (post will be forthcoming...eventually)...

That afternoon, my dad offered to take me and my SIL to the 32nd Navy Exchange (NEX)...

which I hadn't been in more than a decade.  My ID card expired ages ago when I was in college. My dad took me here before we bought our house so I could look at some furniture (which I didn't get).

As a family, going to the NEX on weekends was a ritual...

An edgy find at The Spare Room

After our lunch at Ono's, Astroboi and I popped over next door at this consignment shop...

I'd been there a few months ago and ended up getting a orchid cordury pair of jeans here. It looks better than it sounds. But I told him, I just wanted to "look"...

Toki x 3

Isn't this cute? This is the Favola print Tokidoki in the Carino cross body style...I love the different fairy tale characters. Which ones can you spot?

Teen nephew's bday party food...

Before we start, let us enjoy this classic scene from Mel Brooks' "History of the World Part 1":

"Jesus!"
"What?"
"What!"
"Yes?"
"Jesus!"
"What?"

Ha ha,that never gets old!

Of course, every old school Filipino has one of these in their house, some form of the Last Supper, preferably on black velvet. In this case, this biblical masterpiece was found in my sis's former MIL's house for my oldest nephew's bday party.

"Will you be having separate checks?  Try the mulled wine! I hear it's terrific!"

Tokidoki Tote

Woo hoo! A FREE gift! I got this from my friend (the History Professor) who got it at the 2008 Pool Trade Show last year in Vegas. When I met him for lunch at JNC a couple of weeks ago, he noticed my Tokidoki bag, especially the Adios Star character. He mentioned he had a 'bag' (although this is really a 'shopping tote')with all these characterons on it that he used to carry his books. I practically begged for this thing. I mean, he's in his 50's- he doesn't need this!!!
The photos below are courtesy of the Tokidoki Blog.

This is the Tokidoki Shopper Tote with the "80's" print. You cannot find this anywhere. According to my friend, they were giving these away at the Trade Show and the table had a bunch of them. He should have taken more than one! Anyways, it's mine now and I'm going to use it! It's pretty sturdy. It's made out of the same material used for those reusable shopping tote bags at the grocery stores. It's also pretty sizeable - I could fit a lot of junk in there. But I won't. I don't want to ruin it completely.
The inner pocket also has a pattern with the Tokidoki skull and crossbones logo and lightning bolts. So cute!
