Slugs 'n Stones Ice Cream Cones plus Taffy Town Taffy

Right around the corner from The Hungry Clam was this curiously named ice cream shop...

We were up for some dessert after our fried clam meal...

After seeing several banana slugs on the forest floor at The Trees of Mystery, I can see the slug connection. I also learned that this area of southern Oregon is also known as the Banana Belt (so maybe that explained the banana slug decor and candy theme), which boasts a warmer climate than the surrounding areas. After searching online for the slug connection, I found out that Slug 'n Stones hosts the Annual Slug Races every Spring here (article linked at end of post) but for your viewing pleasure, the poster for this year's race back in May

I love that the prizes are popcorn and ice cream! You can RENT a slug or bring your OWN! Love this! Now I get it.

They had slug decor and slug themed sweets here.

The parlor has a big seating area pus a counter to order your cones or cups.

This shelf had mini tubs full of gourmet taffy from Taffy Town.

Our ice cream treats:

TC's  Chocolate Chip cookie dough cone:

Bert's raspberry sorbet and my huckleberry cheesecake cone.

Assorted gourmet taffy...don't ask me what the flavors were.  We pretty much chose a little of everything. I liked the combo flavors like strawberry banana. Bert threw in some rootbeer while TC chose the mainly fruity flavors.

As seen on our way back to California:

While we were here, we met a family traveling from Vancouver. They rented a huge motor home and were heading down to San Diego (well, La Jolla actually).

California welcomes you:

The folks at the ice cream place were so very nice and patient while we made our choices. It is family run and own. The daughter helped us at the counter while the mom scooped the ice cream behind her. Lots of locals here. It's a very nice vibe.
