Hollow Coffee + more scenes from Irving Street and Parkside

A few blocks down from Snowbird Coffee & Arizmendi Bakery...

was yet another hipster coffee shop, Hollow Coffee.

Bert already knew what he wanted...

I had an idea but ended up changing my mind.

They actually had an $8 coffee drink and the dude in front of me actually ordered it, The Titanic (a dark chocolate mocha with hand made marshmallows in it). That seems a bit much in my opinion.

I wanted the artisan dark chocolate mocha iced but the barista told me that the chocolate would be too thick to stir so against my better judgement, got a small hot mocha instead.  Bert ordered the butterscotch latte while TC selected the liege waffle to snack on for later.

Cute set up they had here...

Our drinks and snack:

Bert really enjoyed his butterscotch latte with soy. It was pretty smooth and rich and also a bit on the sweeter side.

I probably would have liked my mocha better iced but this hot version wasn't too bad.

This probably would have been much better warmed up but TC liked it well enough, especially with the big pearl sugar crystals inside.

A stencil as seen on the street...

Remember the blue building in the previous post? Here is a closer look. The color was so very "regal" and had classical ornamentation, molding, etc.   I didn't see it at first, but TC noticed a black and white cat peering out the window.

We headed west on Irving to get back to the motel to get our things before leaving. Plus, bathroom. Here are some snapshots I took along the way. I just love the signage...

Closer to our motel was the whole city blockn 46th and Sloat that was demolished May of 2015.  A seedy motel, the Roberts, used to be there along with a surf shop and John's Ocean Beach Cafe which had these awesome banana nut pancakes. The surf shop relocated but that cafe is gone forever. :(

From what I read, the nursery on Sloat, just south of this block is also set to be torn down for redevelopment. Our motel gave us fair warning about the construction work. When we went there again for our Spring Break road trip this year, construction was still going on.

On our hats that we never wore, the cross section of that awesome chocolate croissant from Arizmendi.

Somewhere along the 101...

The sun cake before it was eaten...

The drive from SF to Paso Robles was a good three hours. We stopped at a boonie town at the two hour mark. I may have even driven that leg of the trip come to think of it.
