Third time's a charm - Indulge

[Update - Unfortunately Indulge is now closed as of 4/2012, or at least when I noticed it was]

All right then...let's roll out the third Indulge post in less than one week!

This time, for breakfast!

Return to Indulge

[Update - Closed as of 4/2012]

After dropping off TC and my friend's lunch, we headed down to downtown Chula Vista.

I wanted to take Bert to Indulge where I had recently enjoyed lunch with TA...

A & D Hawaiian BBQ - National City

Since we were the area we wanted to check out this Hawaiian place...Look, it says A&D Hawaiian BBQ on the sign right?

But this is now there!

Here today and gone tomorrow...

Dinner on Black Friday

Don't you just love the strategically placed logos on the crotchal region?

Guess which pair I bought Bert?

Indulge

[Update - Closed as of 4/2012. Boo.]

While looking at the SD Reader for new eats, I saw a coupon for this new place in downtown Chula Vista...

It seemed promising. I was going to meet my former student, The Activist for lunch and it was near her work...

Valerio's - Otay Mesa

[This location is closed]

A few days ago I went to meet a former student (who I'll call The Activist/TA) for lunch. I went down South to drop TC off with grandma (my mom) and since I was in the old 'hood, decided to pick up a few food gifts for TA.

In this little strip mall is one of the many Valerio's bakeries in San Diego. This is the one we used to go to for all of our baked good needs. A long long time ago, there used to be a Round Table Pizza there. Remember that? I miss Round Table and Square Pan Pizza! Ha ha...

Nothing Bundt Cakes

Immediately after our lunch at Smashburger, TC and I headed down Friar's Road to check out the new Nothing Bundt Cakes grand opening...

So what was it like, you ask?

Late to the party...Smashburger

Because the place we originally wanted to go to for lunch was CLOSED until 2 pm on Mondays (The Rocking Tanuki; the tanuki by the way is a Japanese racoon dog with a huge nutsac), I wanted to go someplace relatively close by. My good old Garmin listed Sab-e-Lee (the original one) and Smashburger as the closest places...

Smashburger it was...

Return to Boll Weevil

It's been about a year or so since we were last here...

(paper star made from straw wrapper by TC made in a fit of boredome)

It was time for a revisit...

Happy Thanksgiving 2011

Happy Turkey Day!

Our Thanksgiving lunch was a mixture of American and Filipino food...

Thanksgiving sides...

The other night I made the sides for Thanksgiving ahead of time...

So that was three last night and one this morning...let's take a look, shall we?

Messin' around with RPattz - Part 2

Bert's been having fun at my expense.

He's been "altering" my screensavers with his crude Photoshop skills...

Hogetsu once again...

What do we have here?

Treats from Hogetsu chosen by Bert...

Movie (OMFG! "TS: BD Part1 2x") and lunch with the chicks...

I had a fab morning and afternoon with my gal pals, The Other Rock Chick (TORC) and her sister, Divalicious (D), Mi Firme Heina (MFH) and another friend who doesn't have a blog nickname (yet)...

Yes, I watched "IT" again...

Dinner and a movie (OMFG, "TS: BD Part 1) with Astroboi

Earlier this evening Astroboi and I made it 4 for 4:

I guess you could say it's our little "tradition" to have a standing date to watch the Twilight Saga flicks (1st movie in '08, 2nd in '09, 3rd in '10)...

Noodles with meatballs...

I wish I could be more imaginative with my titles, but sometimes most of the time, I just want to get to the point...

TC enjoying her bun with chicken teriyaki and pineapple meatballs from Costco...

Black Snot Ballz

Now that I have your attention...

Last weekend we had such nice weather. The forecast for this weekend is not so good. Rain. Wah wah wah. But I don't give a fk since I'm going to be with my GF's watching "Breaking Dawn - Part 1" and having lunch the next day with the lovely CAB...

Now about those black snot ballz...

Dudley's Bakery and Don's Market - Santa Ysabel

Before heading back home, we made a quick stop at Dudley's in the little town of Santa Ysabel. We wanted to get the hell out of the country before it got dark.

You know those country roads don't have lights, so yeah...after this, it was time to GTFO!

Jeremy's on the Hill - Wynola

After our brief exposure to Julian's main drag, we headed out for a relatively late lunch at a nearby establishment, Jeremy's on the Hill. I'd read about it on Kirk's blog (post was from Ed from Yuma, linked at the end of this post) and from the SD Reader.

We didn't want to eat at the tourist trap places on Main Street, so off we went heading west on the 78, just a few miles away from Julian...

Roasted Root Vegetables and Baked Salmon

This past rainy weekend, I was totally Ms. Suzie Homemaker/June Cleaver. I made several recipes and was just in a tizzy in the kitchen.

I bought a few sweet potatoes (white and garnet) and roasted them...

Sofa what?

My my my...

Yes he is...gawd, what a hilarious poster!

Best JAWPORN ever! And Rob, you should wear a suit ALL THE FKG TIME!

(photos from last night's "Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1" premiere, Los Angeles, CA/photos from various fansites including Robsessed)

One more gorgeous photo (this time from the Stockholm press conference last month)...Rob looking scrufflicious and sporting a old mannish sweater. He could wear pink lace with ruffles or a George of the Jungle leopard print loincloth. I don't care. He looks good in anything! Ha ha...

And even tho' I hated the book, I'm still going to see the movie with Astroboi this Friday and with the gals (TORC, Sis of TORC, D, MFH, and another friend) this Saturday! Let's see some of that headboard breakin' action! Ha ha!

Suam na Tulya

We interrupt the regularly scheduled post of the Julian daytrip with a new recipe...

Perfect for a rainy day...

Julian - Apple Cider

Next on our list was getting some fresh apple cider. We figured this place would be good since it was called the Julian Cider Mill...

Julian daytrip

As we know,yesteday was 11/11/11.

Did you turn things up to "11"?

As we all had the day off, Bert made a quick stop to drop off flowers at his father's grave to honor him for Veterans Day. After that, we jumped into the car to do a daytrip up to Julian, a small town up in them thar mountains in San Dee-ah-go (which of course means "whale's vagina")...

Color Blocked...

This is another pair I found on Amazon...

They are color blocked peeptoe wedges that are quite futuristic looking...

Happy 11/11/11!

Today's date is a momentous occasion in history. With a trio of 11's, that can only mean one thing...

Luna Grill - Eastlake

Out with the old and in with the new...

Replacing the Daphne's in Eastlake is Luna Grill...

Arroz Caldo...

Man, I've been on a Filipino food bend lately. Pancit bihon, beef nilaga, chicken tinola and now this...

Arroz caldo! This is one of the easiest Filipino recipes ever! You have to be total mental midget in the kitchen to mess this up...

Stardust again...

Bert had to go to Coronado for a work project. Since he HAD TO pass through I.B., he picked up a few of these babies...

Donuts from Stardust!

Seafood City stuff...

This weekend, we stopped by Seafood City to get a few snacks and ingredients for the nilaga and tinola I recently made...

Everyone and their mother was there that day which is typical on weekends, especially after church.  No recent Lotto winners though...

Another floater...

Another chocolate beer float enjoyed by Bert...

This time it was the bottled version of Young's Double Chocolate Stout which tastes better than the canned version. Cheers!

Rainy Day Food - Part 2: Beef Nilaga

Here's the other Filipino soup recipe I made today.

Yes, I made TWO...

Rainy Day Food - Part 1: Chicken Tinola with Bittermelon Leaves

Last month I made Tinolang Manok with Sili Leaves. Seafood City didn't have any sili leaves today, but they had this...

Wow, only $1.85 but I could have received some for free from my parents' garden...

Rubio's Burritos

It was one of those nights where I didn't feel like making dinner. TC had a craving for Rubio's...

which was good since I wanted to use my coupon!

Scarf and boot weather again...

A few days ago, I put away most of my summery type clothes and took out my boots and sweaters again. Even though we do live in mostly "sunny" San Diego, it does rain once in a while. Flip flops just don't cut it during those cold rainy days. Oh yeah, and it also does go below 70 once in a while as well.

Can you tell that TC and I both like purple?

Pink Berry - Fashion Valley

Everyone split up after lunch except for me and MFH. We stopped by Sephora so she could look for a perfume she ran out of (it was not there since it was seasonal). Then we stopped by a few stores but mainly to window shop.

I haven't been to Fashion Valley in awhile but I noticed that the foodcourt seating area is now covered! Very nice! I also noticed that D'Lush was gone and in it's place was Pinkberry...

Return to Stacked

After enduring our non-yawn inducing and eyelid drooping experience four hours of financial aid  fun at the workshop, the co-workers and I headed over to Fashion Valley. One of them wanted to check out the Nordstrop half-yearly sale so I figured, let's go here instead.

The original plan was to have lunch at Bali Thai down the street from the workshop venue. Well, shopping and Stacked won out!

Return to San Diego Desserts...

Hey now...back again at San Diego Dessert yo'.

After our tasty and "interesting" lunch at Que Huong, we headed a few miles NE to get our dessert on...

Que Huong yet again...

Last weekend, my friend and I met up with SD Foodbloggers:  Kirbie and her FH from Kirbie's Cravings and Dennis from A Radiused Corner.

Dennis liked how this sign instructed people to park over in Burger King's spaces. It's in Vietnamese on the other side...

Spiky flats

New purple flats from Volatile...

I love the faceted circular disks. They are spiky at the top of the disk and glitter in the sun!

Return to Valentino's Lounge

Before the Que Huong post, I'd like to get this one out of the way...

One of our friends recently had her 40th so we took her out to lunch (her choice) at Valentino's Lounge in the Otay Ranch area of Chula Vista...

Hogetsu nearly a year later

It's been nearly ten months since I was last here. I wanted to get some cakes as gifts for an upcoming lunch meet up.

Since they close by 5 pm, I hauled @$$ from work to get there before they closed...

Sushiman

A friend and I were recently at Eastlake Village Walk for lunch and I finally decided to try this place, Sushiman...(must say it like it's Jewish last name, like in the Seinfeld episode where Seinfeld wonders why "Superman" isn't pronounced like "Goldman" or "Silverman")....

Well, that's how Bert and I pronounce this place, "Soo-shee-men" (not "Sushi-man")...

San Diego Desserts revisited

After our quick stop at Barnes Bar-B-Que to pick up our brisket and ribs dinner, we made a quick trip to the Rolando area...

Located near the King Pawn shop (see looming sign above), San Diego Desserts always has a decent selection of sweets going on...

Messin' around with RPattz

Wut?

What I meant to say was that Bert was messing with my RPattz SCREENSAVERS...

This one had the normally hawt Rob Pattinson in character as billionaire Eric Packer for the upcoming David Cronenberg film, "Cosmopolis". Man, can he wear a suit!

Well, when I came home from work to read my home email, I saw this...

Niiiiiice Bert. Har de har har.

I had a good laugh then promptly put the original screensaver back on.

About last night...

Seeing double?

One of the neighbors the next street over ALSO went as Slash! He's actually bald, which I didn't know. When I showed Bert the photo, he recognized him as a neighborhood kid's dad. Anyways, it was funny because my sis just HAD to get a photo of the two Slashes
