Return to Quenelle + salad from Trader Joe's

One thing I forgot to mention in my previous post was that my left sandal broke right after we finished our burgers at Shake Shack.

As seen earlier that same day at the Micheltorena Stairs...

Of course  it would be my dumb luck that the thong part between my toes would break...

North Pole Snow Cream

A few hours of vegging out, napping or whatever you want to call it...

and we were ready to go out again, this time at a local mall for dessert...

George Izay Park

Just oooone more thing...

before heading to the hotel, we had to see THIS...

Summer Road Trip 2015 Day 10 - The Drive back, Blackwell's Corner & Porto's

This was it, our last day of our epic 10 day road trip...

We left Paso Robles super early to beat traffic on the way back home.

This was July 4th after all and we wanted to make it for early dinner at my parents...

Return to the Blue Pig & Porto's

We'd been here before...

this cute little vintage store on Magnolia...

Quenelle

There was a fairly new (at the time) ice cream place next to this sign shop...

Quenelle, named after the football shaped scoop in French cuisine...

I read somewhere that their flavors changed daily and that day they happened to have a particular Filipino flavor...

Norm's Hamburger No. 3

In our past visits to Burbanks, we'd always pass this place...

and say, "Norm" (like in "Cheers").  Today was the day we would finally give it a try. It looks like it's been here forever (and I'm sure it has) and we were craving burgers after all that driving...

Wonder Years House (& Winnie Cooper's too!)

We headed over to Burbank fom our nostalgic visit to the Filipino American history mural at Unidad Park...

to make another pop culture pilgrimage to a home featured in one of the best TV shows of all time...

San Marco Coffee Roasting House

With the lovely Verdugo Mountains in the distance, we headed east from Martino's Bakery...

which was right off Magnolia; the coffee place would also be right off Magnolia, but due east...

in this tiny commercial corner with a old school cleaners and hamburger joint as neighbors...

Martino's Bakery

Not that far from Creature Features was Martino's Bakery...

which was known for a very specific baked good that I was curious in trying.

Return to the LA Roadtrip - January 2015 Day 2 Porto's & cool window art @ Creature Features

Everytime we stay overnight in Burbank...

we always make sure to go to Porto's...

It's across the bridge on their  main drag, Magnolia St...

Late night snack at Doughnut Hut

We'd been here before, but only in the daytime...

I know that's a crappy photo of the Doughnut Hut, but the car was moving and it was dark...

Rafo's Cafe

We always stay at the same hotel in Burbank, the Holiday Inn Express. It's close to the freeway and pretty affordable.  Unfortunately there are way too many chain restaurants there that I wouldn't set foot in...Most of our stays have involved us driving out for dinner. Bert had dinner destination choosing duty and he picked a good one!

That night's dinner wold be in this strip mall...

Summer Road Trip Day 6 Highlights and heading back home...

After six days, our vacation had to come to an end...

We left yet another beach community for home, but of course, made a few stops along the way...

Doughnut Hut

I swear to (insert diety of choice here) that I've eaten more donuts this past year than I ever have in my entire LIFE, ha ha!

Another place that caught our eyes while driving up and down this street was this brightly colored and striped donut joint...

The Blue Pig

We'd passed this store earlier that afternoon while looking for the Martial Arts History Museum...

The motley assortment of items on the sidewalk caught my attention so we made a mental note to check it out after seeing the museum...

Martial Arts History Museum

While we were still up in the L.A. area, we thought it would be cool to finally see a museum we wanted to see three years ago...

Bert remembered seeing it on W. Magnolia Blvd, one of Burbank's main drags...It wasn't open at the time since it was after hours and we vowed to see it one day during a return visit and that day had come...

Johnny Rockets - Burbank

Not feeling too adventurous, we decided to use this coupon at the nearbyJohnny Rockets by the big AMC in Burbank.

Even though I have the San Diego coupon book, a few of the coupons had other non-San Diego locations...
