This time I would be in the company of a good friend and her younger sister (both former students in fact, class of '97 and '11 respectively)...

They wanted to take me out for my birthday and what better day than the very last day of my favorite month...

Last  night Bert and I had night out on our own...

Earlier this afternoon Bert came home tired and said, "Where are we going for dinner?"

He didn't feel like staying at home and asked if I could check my coupons for a place to try out..

While our pastries from the Carlsbad Danish Baking Co. weren't so great this time around (with the exception of the chocolate almond pretzel), we were hoping to have better luck later that day...

In this case lunch down in Encinitas. Here's a tip, try to find free parking at the train station lot on the conrer of Vulcan and Encinitas Blvd....

I vowed to use a coupon every day of the break. TC and I finally went to our original destination from the previous week...

when I took a wrong turn and totally bypassed the Little Italy sign and ended up on the freeway instead. Instead of Italian, we had Mexican that day...

But no worries, we were here now and I was able to snag two hour free parking a few blocks away...

Last weekend's weather was beautiful, clear, sunny, and warm.  A perfect day to have lunch with the lovely Kirbie...

Liberty Station was our destination that day and we were hoping to not just have lunch, but perhaps check out a festival on site that same day...
