Cesar Solis Community Park

I was out solo this particular morning.

A new park had opened up in the South Bay the previous week and I had to check it out...

Traffic back to Carp wasn't so bad.

Bayshore Bikeway revisit 7 months later

The bike shop had just opened...

with neighbor Trident Coffee open a little more than a month earlier...

We thought we would pay Bikeway Village development a visit...

Azalea Community Park

A few weeks ago I  was out about exploring on my own.

TC was at sports practice and Bert was at work. I would have preferred to not be alone but...

we made our way across to the 94 to get to the 805....

George Izay Park

before heading to the hotel, we had to see THIS...

Anikin's Fruit & Deli, Golden Hill + Golden Hill Park

TC is learning how to drive and at the time of this visit, hadn't completely finished her six hours of on the road instruction...

That didn't deter us from having her drive from a nearby coffee shop in North Park to Golden Hill...

Sadly, there was no parking in this lot with new (to me) solar panels...

Strawberry Hill, Golden Gate Park

During our last trip to SF, Bert had this place on his "must see" list...

It's a spot in Golden Gate Park with a picturesque name...

and in the middle of a small lake in Golden Gate Park.

Serra Cross Park

The motel we stayed at was a vintage hotel. Not fancy, but good enough for the night. The guy working there was really helping in giving us recommendations on where to see some cool sights and where to dine.  We thought we would check out the one of the highest points in Ventura...

We made our way up the hill, past City Hall and near Father Serra's statue...

Grant Park, which includes the Botanical Gardens also has another park, Serra Cross, known for its spectacular views...

Franceschi Park

Although we went back to the SBPB, I'll skip ahead to this post which details our visit to a local (but hidden) viewpoint, Franceschi Park...

The park is up in the Missions Hills Ridge neighborhood and was named after Francesco Franceschi, an internationally respected horticulturist who introduced many plants to the area.


Along with the park, there is a road named after him. His dilapidated (and abandoned) mansion is still there as well...

Spring Break Road Trip 2016 - Day 1 Highlights

Although Spring Break began after the 18th, we didn't leave for our trip until the day after Easter...
at the ungodly hour of 3 am!

Return to Kate Sessions Park + a new mural in North Park

After checking out David mural, we headed over to Kate Sessions Park...

which Bert hadn't been to yet. It was a nice sunny day and the views were sure to be much better than my previous visit...

Echo Park Lake

We'd seen this lake during previous road trips and TC and her dance troupe performed her for the Lotus Festival during the Summer of 2014.

At the time, the park had undergone an extensive rehabilitation project and was reopened to the community with much fanfare three years ago...

We thought it would be a nice place to stretch our legs...

Mountain Hawk Park

It felt good to be able to accomplish most of what we wanted this morning...

we climbed the Secret Stairs of La Mesa, had breakfast and coffee...

and took the 125 toll road down to a park whose background we've seen many times on friends' IG and facebook posts...
