Farmer's Market + Surf Market, Gualala

I keep switching back and forth from our Summer 2014 trip to our 2015; this one is from 2015. Our next destination north from having breakfast at the Sea Ranch was a small town called Gualala.

If you blink while driving through, you might miss it.

It's a pretty small town, but we made sure to stop by. Lucky for us, it was also the same day as their Farmer's Market...

Silver Gate Three Star Lodge + garage sale in North Park & the soon-to-be-closed Thrift Trader in Hillcrest

We parked across this cool looking building before heading to The Mission for breakfast...

I made a mental note to find out more before we heading to our coffee destination.

Georgia Street Bridge

Does this bridge look familiar to you?

If you've ever driven west on University Ave towards Hillcrest, you've driven under this bridge...

A handcrafted ring + return to Providence Bay

In my hand is a ring made by one of C's First Nation students...

The young lady who made it is a teenager and part of the Objibwe tribe on Manitoulin Island. It looks quite delicate and I'm almost afraid to even wear it...

Back from Tomboctou

Right next to Broke Girls Coffee Bar is this cute little folk art place...

you'd have to be blind to miss the big "Tomboctou" banner next to BCBG's pink one...

Studio Maureen & The Gallery Next Door

The last full fledged day of my winter break was spent with Mi Firme Heina (MFH)...

We were back in South Park for lunch, but before doing so, wanted to check out this little shop on Beech St.

All the red in the window display attracted me as well as a tiny glimpse of what lay within...

Purple and rust

Every springtime in San Diego, the jacaranda blossoms start to bloom...

heralding the end of Spring and the beginning of summer...

Random photos here and there

This is another post with one off photos. The kind where I only take a few and it's not really enough for a full post. Either that or I've forgotten about them until now.

Every weekend there's always a different group selling food after mass. Sometimes there's donuts or Mexican pan dulces. This time, it was Filipino food. I like the backwards dollar sign there!

With the weather getting warmer, that means it's time to wear open toes shoes again...

Record Store Day outfit

Before going back to the Record Store Day crawl posts, I thought I'd throw in a random outfit post...

In honor of record store day, I wore my aluminum 45 adapter necklace which I thought rather fitting. In fact I got compliments on the necklace while Cy got compliments on her yellow 45 adaptor earrings that day...

I wanted to be comfortable so...

Collage

After our lunch, we headed up the street where this Malcolm X mural caught my eye...

The mural was on the side of the House of Umoja building on the corner of 17th and Alberta Street. Umoja is Swahili for "unity" and is also one of the seven  guiding principles of Kwanzaa.  I found out later that the House of Umoja was a non profit organization and mentorhsip program aimed at helping former gangmembers with job and life skills, assist with addiction treatments and job opportunities. Very admirable.

Across the street from House of Umoja was a store that caught our eye.

You Spin Me Round...

Well hey there children...remember these things?

(image courtesy of yesteryearremembered.com, "45 Records")

Those of you over the age of 35 at the very least should know what that is.  If not, you must live under a rock or have never experienced the joy of touching a jet black disc of vinyl on it's crisp edge and dropping a needle onto it's lined grooves...

(Fake) Leather and lace and metal

Bang your heads dudes...

There are many things I associate with the phrase "Heavy Metal" such as the 1981 animated movie (logo seen above), Steppenwolf's "Born to Be Wild" which makes a reference to "heavy metal thunder", and of course, one of my preferred genres of music...

Use Your Illusion

If you stare at this long enough, it will give you a headache!

At least is does, for me...

I'm a big fan of black and white clothing and when I saw this print a little over a year ago, I took a risk...

Yellow Sky

Last weekend, I attended a baby shower for my friend's daughter...
It was quite lovely, with a lavender, black and white color theme wih damask and the Eiffel Tower as the other design elements. There were desserts galore (full post will be forthcoming)...

It was also an excuse to dress up. My friend is one of my workout galpals and we normally don't see each other in clothes other than workout clothes...

Spiked

My love of hardware has traveled from my boots and jewelry to my clothes...

Those are actually speaker spikes (whatever those are!). Now, if they would only supply spikes and circular and pyramid studs 'n shit with the Bedazzler!

Then I'd be in BUSINESS!

Seriously, I would be in my room bedazzling every fkg thing I could get my hands on. My leather jackets, my pajamas, my sock hems, and my underwear. Just kidding.

I want to have a rhinestone and pyramid studded pair of Daisy Dukes.   Not.

A whisper to a scream...

"What...is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow?"

(image from etsy.com)

"What do you mean? An African or European Swallow?"

Quotes are from the "Bridge of Death" scene in "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" in which almost every scene is quotable!

I could have used another "swallow" reference from "Austin Powers the Spy Who Shagged Me", but...

Fab Shopping on Fern...

You gotta love the bubbles on this sign!

One of the places we passed while heading back up Fern Street to while away a few minutes before checking if we won the big raffle...
