LA Road Trip Day 3 Highlights

When faced with the prospect of eating at a nearby "hot and new" breakfast place in Highland Park versus one that had been there for 40+ years...

we chose the latter where we enjoyed a hearty breakfast that didn't break the bank...

Before heading off to lunch, we had one more stop in Highland Park so I could pick up some donut delights here...

But something was missing...

Kindness & Mischief Coffee

While en route to Pasadena earlier, I googled new coffee shops as we were passing by the Highland Park Area. Last time I was here, we went to Civil Coffee.

Located on the same street, N. Figueroa Blvd was yet another new coffee place, Kindness & Mischief.  Yes, it had the two separate words with an ampersand in the middle.

Photos from instagram and yelp showed a sleek but homey interior and great looking coffee drinks...

So off to K & M we went...

Highlights from yesterday's Road Trip to Pasadena

Yesterday I accompanied Cathy to the Rose Parade float road test...

leaving super early in the morning....

Civil Coffee

Located in the same neighborhood of Highland Park was a fairly new coffee place..

From what I've read, the neighborhood is in the process of gentrification.

But rather than get into a political debate of its merits or downfalls, I'll just focus on the coffee...

Cathy and I were on our way to the outer edges of Chinatown, but before doing so...would be passing by Highland Park on Arroyo Parkway...

This is where you will find this most awesome soda shop on York Blvd...

With our "second breakfast" settling in...we made our way to the freeway to get to L.A.  As I often do when I "navigate", I check our Garmin and see what spots are on the map as we are driving.

When I saw that Galco's was very close by, I asked Bert to make the next exit, York...

which brought us to this old school shop in the historic neighborhood of Highland Park...
