Return to Lofty Coffee Cafe and Bakery, Little Italy

TC and I were so happy that Bert was back home...

Daylight Savings time was the other day and we were crazy enough to head over to Little Italy the next morning...

Some coffee was in order here...

RIP Florence Henderson

I was really bummed when I found out the news...

I grew up watching reruns of "The Brady Bunch" in the 70's...

Cold as Ice or Hotter than Hell? Salted maple lattes from Dark Horse Coffee in North Park

Coffee Stop #2 was here...

a place we've been to previously. I secretly hoped that the ginger barista who resembled GOT's Tormund Giantsbane younger gentler brother would be there...

Seafood Friday #4 - New items from Pho Hiep Grill Chateau

Dinner earlier tonight was at one of our fave places, Pho Hiep Grill Chateau in Eastlake...

Don't you just love daylight saving's time?  The longer days are so much nicer and I feel I can get a lot more done...

Return to Classic Rock Sandwich Shoppe & Subterranean Coffee Boutique

Remembering how much we liked this place last year, TC and I went back to North Park at this quirky sandwich shoppe with rock and roll memorabilia...

The same guy who made our sandwiches last year was there along with Cheryl Dagostaro, the very friendly and chattty owner...

Classic Rock Sandwich Shoppe

This was one of the "new" coupons in the book and luckily, to a place I really wanted to try out...

so that is what TC and I did  a few weeks ago during our recent Fall break where we went out almost every day and tried to use coupons as much as possible...

It's a few doors down from the very retro Lucky's on the corner of North Park Way and Grim. I like that this is a bit "hidden" and not on the main drag of North Park...

"The Girl Can't Help It"

With our trek to the Spruce Street Suspension Bridge behind us, I wanted to take a quick detour to North Park to check out a small gourmet shop on Ray Street. But first, we had to find parking. I parked a few streets back from University Avenue, ending up on Grim Street.

When I got out of the car, I was pleasantly surpised to see that we were near Lucky's Breakfast, which used to be calledGolden Phenix (no "o" in their spelling), a place I've only read about through Kirk's blog (that post has a photo of the old sign).

It had an old school look and feel both outside and inside. It was already the early afternoon, so Lucky's was definitely closed, as they are open for breakfast only. A quick peek in the windows showed a completely, uh, "uncleaned" restaurant. No one was around. Dirty plates and dishes were still on the tables.

I actually wanted to take a quick peek in the store that was next door to Lucky's before going to that gourmet shop...

The Last Beat of My Heart Valentine's playlist

"I just switched to Sanka...so have a heart"
quote by Mr. Vargas, the science teacher from "Fast Times at Ridgemont High"

Happy Valentine's Day (or not)

No blood this year!

I thought I'd change it up and do a playlist, or what used to be known as a 'mixtape'...

ABC Music Humpday Videos 2.0 - "T" is for...

Although this song originally came out in the late 70's, it was the first song featured in one of the best movies of all time...

Here's a bit of a clue that relates to the scene it plays in the movie...

Need another hint?

Oh my gosh, the shoe gives it ALL away!

ABC Humpday Music Videos 2.0 - "Q" is for

I could have taken the easy way out and chosen "Queen" (classic rock but already done last time) or "Queensryche" (heavy metal), or even Q-Feel (new wave)....or if I was desperate, Stacy Q (Two of Hearts, two hearts that beat as one....)!!!

This entry is from a different decade for once! The 70's.

Here's the first clue (answer at the end of this post)....

Ooh, I like her dress, but that's besides the point...

Second clue...

ABC Music Humpday Posts 2.0 - "D" is for...

I must really like this year, because here's another song from 1979.

Let me give you a hint.

This popular rock band appeared on an episode of "What's Happening!!" and it was through this episode that my siblings and I first learned the meaning of the word "bootleg".

As Dwayne would say, "Hey, HEY, hey!" (not to be confused with Fat Albert's "Hey Hey HEY!"

It's back! ABC Music Humpday Videos 2.0! "A" is for....

Welcome to the new year and also to a new slew of ABC Music Videos to be posted every Wednesday...

For the first installment, what better way to start than with one of my favorite rock groups, AC/DC (with Bon Scott before he died the classic rock star death of choking on his own vomit)! "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap"!

This version is live and not the one you hear on the radio (if you listen to 101.5 KGB or Rock 105.3 like I do during the rare times I listen to the radio). I like the international album version better (the re-release in 1981).

Colors

Colors of the Wind? Colour My World? Color Me Badd?

Ice T doesn't think so...
