The Yoda Fountain + Lucasfilms Headquarters

The last time Bert and I were at the Presidio was for a wedding more than twenty years ago.

This time, we were back, in a different part of the Presido to see yet another permutation of a certain 900 year old Jedi Master...

Admission is free and so is parking, so if you're an original Star Wars trilogy freaks like we are...

then make sure to get thyselves out to Lucasfilms Headquarters. HE is there...just past the pergola.

Yoda it is.

Come to me you shall.

It's the same Yoda as the one we saw in San Anselmo, but this time, he isn't sharing the spotlight with Indiana Jones, heh heh.




No angle shall go unphotographed.

If you are here, don't just look at the Yoda Fountain...there's more!

Behind the fountain is the lobby for Lucasfilms Headquarters (which also houses Industrial Lights and Magic, aka ILM). Special effects nerds will recognize both.

The lobby is filled with memorabilia from all of the Star Wars films (the original Trilogy plus the crappy prequels). The best part of the lobby are the full size figures of Boba Fett, Darth Vader, and a Stormtrooper.




Now THAT's a bookend.

One mom was in here with her son and couldn't identify Boba Fett! I'm sorry, but please just turn around and leave right now. Seriously? Okay, I'll be nice. She was young and probably only saw the shitty pre-quels. If she had watched the original trilogy, she would have recognized him.


I took a photo of Bert pretending to be "choked" from the Force.  I'll spare you the photo of my cupping Darth Vader's codpiece.

In the back is a statue of Willis Harold O'Brien (1886-1990), a San Francisco special effects pioneer. Fittingly, he is depicted with King Kong on top of the Empire State Building, which was one of the man films he is known for.
