Shollenberger, which is a protected wetlands area...
and a great place to talk a nature walk...
We were totally up for that. It would be good to work up an appetite. Shollenberger Park is a 165 acre wetlands and wildlife sanctuary and a favorite for many to view wildlife.
There are a few picnic tables at the start of the trail. Keep in mind that there is no shade. The trail is also pretty flat so that makes it easy for all ages. We enjoyed seeing all of the different dogs that were being walked that morning.

The park's trail is about two miles and it took us a little over an hour since we did several stops along the trail to take photos and take in nature. Towards the end, I was getting pretty
Our lunch - the lettuce we bought from Green String Farm (we washed it); there were also a few edible flowers thrown in.
Lettuce, fruit, salami, a few thin wedges of the St. Jorge cheese from the Joe Matos Cheese Factory, multi-grain crackers and those pies we bought earlier from the Petaluma Pie Company. Pretty simple and realtivelyhealthy. We found a table in the sahde near the parking lot. The other tables were out in the full sun. The only downside was that there were some bugs flying around, ugh.
Both hand pies were excellent. Ours was the Jamaican beef pattie, which had a bit of a kick from the spices, while TC's was some sort of mystery filling. She ordered tuna but what was inside was definitely not tuna. None of the other non-meat fillings on their menu board did not match up with these ingredients, which included onions, celery, and potatoes. She was a bit peeved that it wasn't what she wanted but ate it anyways.
WTF was in here? Ha ha.
That crust was so good, especially the edges!

A few miles down the road would be our next stop, this time chosen by Bert. Like I said in a previous post, it was nice not to have to think up the itinerary. Bert and TC had a big hand for this day and so far, we were having a good time exploring the town...
