and head in for some caffeine goodness...
They serve classic espresso drinks, cold brew and a few flavored drinks (that mocha with ganache is calling my name), tea and a few savory and sweet items.
When I asked the girl working the counter who made the pastries, she kind of paused then said "some lady in North Park...out of her own kitchen". The tone of her voice seemed as if I was lame for even asking. Hmmm, well sorry for wanting to know. She wasn't very friendly either. The two guys working there (one of them with a old timey style moustache, but he was young) were a lot nicer and more welcoming. Well, maybe I got her on a bad day or maybe she is normally like this.
Anyhow, the coffee shop shares a communal space in Moniker General, which they call a "lifestyle hub" where they sell bikes, surfboards, and clothing to name a few items. There is also a craft beer section behind the coffee bar, 32 North Brewing Co. It didn't seem to be open, but for those who want a beer and a brew? You could do it here I suppose. It's spacious in here with spare furnishings. We liked seeing the old aerial photo of Point Loma (decade not known).
The hexagonal tiles give it that retro feeling. My good friend Mr. TJ told me that these types of tiles were popular in the 1930's. His own home's bathroom has the original tile work, which are this honeycomb shape, except his tiles are lavender. The color scheme of his bathroom was lavender with mint green. Although those aren't colors he particularly likes, he kept it in his home to preserve its character (his home in the historic neighborhood of Talmadge, was built in the late 1920's).

Our drinks - my Macchiato proper with sparkling water and MFH's Salted Caramel latte. Her drink had lovely latte art/froth flecked with sea salt flakes with a nice and light taste. As for my drink, it was quite strong but I refrained from adding any extra milk or sugar. It was best enjoyed while alternating sips of the espresso and the sparkling water.

The rest of the space was roped off - this is the area that sells the non food items. A very hipstery place this was. I felt old, ha ha.
At least it was open this time. I'd like to return with Bert so we can try a few other drinks on their menu.

Other than the slightly surly chick, we really enjoyed the atmosphere and of course, our coffee here. As it was quite early, the space was nice and mostly empty and pretty peaceful. I'll need to do a revisit to try my other favorite drink, the cortado. One more week until fall break. This week can't end fast enough, I tell you.
