Yoda & Indiana Jones @ Imagination Park, San Anselmo

From our lunch and coffee break in San Rafael, we made the short trek to nearby San Anselmo...

another small town in Marin County, which is also home to a particular park...

that we COULD NOT PASS UP!

This mini park in the middle of the town's shopping district is officially called Imagination Park. It was funded by George Lucas himself (he is also a resident of San Anselmo) and features two iconic statues from his movies...

Here stands Harrison Ford as "Indiana Jones" (from the first movie, "Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark", which was released in 1981). Although the movie itself was directed by Steven Spielberg, it was based on a story by George Lucas and Philip Kaufman; Lucasfilms produced the movie and he also served as Executive Producer. Of course, Harrison Ford also played the rogue Han Solo in "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope" (one of my favorites from the original trilogy).

Here's the original trailer (which seems a bit lackluster in retrospect):

And who is that behind Indiana Jones?

Well, unless you are a dumbass completely devoid of any pop culture knowledge, and/or have lived under a rock for most of your life, the tiny creature can only be...

Yoda....Jedi Master.

I think it's great that a public park (as small as this one is) would even have statues of this type of iconic magnitude.  There are park benches around the fountain and a small grass area with trees.  It's a nice little spot to take a break.

Our day was made even better by visiting this park and seeing these sculptures!

The clock was ticking because we had to drive up to another town before a particular establishment (a certain nursery, as in plants, not babies) closed...

As we left town, I noted that they still had Round Table Pizza. Remember them?  Or Square Pan?

It would be nice to explore more of San Rafael, San Anselmo and the neighboring towns for a future visit.

The town was so cute with many historic buildings with great architectural details...

Here's a video of the statues' unveiling in 2013:

The website listed on you know where is broken but here are a few other links: San Francisco CBS Local, Imagination Park's fb page, an account of the dedication from Rancho Obi Wan, and a posts by Endor Express.

Well, time was a wasting! The place we wanted to see was forty minutes north and it would only be open until 4 pm!
