Influx Cafe, North Park

I love being on vacation because I have so much free time to explore places with TC and as well as my friends. After yesterday's excursion to North Park with TC, I returned but this time with my good friend TORC. Below, the complex called The North Parker on the corner of 30th St and Upas is pretty much completed with several restaurants still waiting to open, like Underbelly (hence the "Ramen Saves" wall)...

When TC and I passed by yesterday, I spied a couple of places that I thought TORC and I could check out...

But first, compare the photo above to the one below. This was taken back in January when I had lunch with Cathy. We were wondering what this place would end up being. Now we know.

(photo from my post "No aebelskivers...Cardamom Cafe & Bakery instead!", January 2014)

It's a very mod looking building with lots of glass. There are businesses/eateries on the bottom. As for the top portion, maybe office spaces or apartments? I'm too lazy to look it up right now.

We both needed our caffeine fix, so a quick run into the third and latest location of Influx was first on our agenda.

I got coffee but not a mocha this time...ooh, live a little, haha.

I got a hipster (anything in North Park is hipster it seems) version of Vietnamese coffee, a whopping 12 oz worth. Wired tonight I will be. Judging from the very milky color, it looks like they put an @$$load of sweetened condensed milk in there! It was all right, but not as good as the one's I've had at real Vietnamese places.

The super dark coffee was TORC's cold brew iced coffee. The barista explained the difference between regular iced coffee and cold brew. TORC wanted to try something different  but was still surprised at how super strong it was.

She ended up having to dump several packets of sugar (she said "eight" but I hope she was kidding) plus cream. That's more like it...

It's nice and bright and shiny and new here, like everything else in this complex.  The Modern Times Beer's Flavordome is just a few steps away. I plan to take  Bert to the beer place very soon. We've tried their Oatmeal Stout before (it was canned too) and liked it. Plus, we want to see the wall art of Yoda comprised of colored floppy disk cases. Nerd nirvana.

Next up, would be our lunch in two parts.

My Mexican friends would kill tease me mercilessly for going here, but yes, we had HIPSTER tacos, just around the corner.

"Why the fk would you wanna pay more than $2 for a taco???"

We shall see, we shall see....

I just recently discovered cold brew coffee! I bought a jug of it at Trader Joe's (though, now I can't find it, sad sad) and use that for my morning coffee. It's much less acidic and less harsh so I can drink it without worrying about upsetting my stomach! Yay! I'll have to check out Influx's version. Looks like lots of new development around there.

Mary - Man, that cold brewed stuff is SUPER STRONG! I'm surprised your stomach isn't upset by it, but yeah, it's supposed to be less harsh. A lot of places now have cold brew coffee. I think it drips overnite or something.

I'm so boring when it comes to coffee because I never get anything hot. I don't care about where it's from, blah blah blah. I liked it iced or blended or with chocolate in it. That is all, haha.
