Tony Gwynn, aka Mr. Padre...a sad loss for sports fans and San Diegans...
This is the Tony Gwynn I first remember watching during that magical 1984 season...
The Padres were so awesome back then! My brother was glued to the TV set during the World Series and it was so cool when San Diego won!
RIP Tony Gwynn...
For those longtime San Diegans, you may remember this footage:

What a sad day for our wonderful city. He will be missed. :(
We went to the game on Thursday when they did a tribute to Tony before the game and right at the start of it. Very moving! Very sad day for San Diego!
Lolo - Thanks for visiting my blog. Yes, Tony Gwynn was and still is my favorite Padre.
Mary - I'm glad you were able to attend the tribute at the game. We learned of this sad news on our drive up the coast from Cathy.
