Road Trip with Cathy - First stop...where else?

This past weekend, I celebrated the end of the school/work year by going on a food road trip with Cathy of Mmm-Yoso...

We left at the ungodly hour of 5 am in order to catch the first Rose Parade Float Road Test in Pasadena (that post is forthcoming)...

It was 6:30 am by the time we got there. No lines too which was nice. I remember seeing lines out the door during my last visit in April during my food road trip with the Educator GF's.

The second and third items on this shelf were interesting...a bread oozing with cheese and a sunken in pastry.

Our goodies for the day...I got a cinnamon pecan roll for Bert, a hot dog bread for me (plus an extra one for TC/not shown). The third item was a scone I didn't order, blueberry to be exact.

Cathy got the cheese bread, her favorite ham and cheese croissant and the cheesecake pastry (with raspberry on the bottom). ]

We ended up trading our third items.  I guess the gal thought I pointed to the scone instead of the sunken pastry. It was actually quite moist and better than what I expected it to be.

I had a tiny bit of this and wow, just wow...

This would taste even better with blueberry too!

Everything I've ever bought from Cream Pan has always been quite good...

Time was a'wastin'! After finishing our savory pastries, Cathy said we NEEDED to get to Pasadena ASAP! Time to put the pedal to the medal! Well, she didn't actually say that, but did convey that time was of the essence....

It seems a visit to Cream Pan is always de rigeur for our road trips!  Time to check out those floats!

Everything here is so good- and at this time of day, also fresh and still warm. So glad we always make sure to be in that area. What a beginning to a great day.

I wish I had the will to get up at 5am to drive up and get the pastries fresh. It could happen someday. Those all look delicious!

hi cathy - the pastries are always so so good here. even better when they are fresh out of the oven too! :)

mary - dude, that was so $#@% it wasn't even funny. everything at cream pan is excellent. except maybe for the red bean filled stuff, but only because i don't care for that flavor.
