Summer Road Trip Day 5 Highlights

Driving through miles of countryside was certainly different...

It was neat finding random homes up in the hillsides as we made our way to our next stop...

passing by farms and ranches once more. This day we finally stopped by a place with rather curious, hungry and aggressive birds from Down Under, saw beautiful architecture at a rather manicured but pretty seaside town, walked on California's longest wooden pier and of course, sampled treats from our various stops...

"The Rover" movie poster in Ventura made me excited. It debuted in Cannes this past May to rave reviews and is showing in select theaters across the U.S.  Bert and I will be watching that once we get back to San Diego. It's only showing at the Town Square theater in Clairemont which is surprising. I thought they would it would at least show in Hillcrest or La Jolla since it's more of an art house film. Update - I just looked at it's showing at Plaza Bonita, Clairemont, La Jolla and Hillcrest, so yay, we have choices.

This movie is the second by Australian director, David Michod who made his mark several years ago with the uncompromisingly brutal "Animal Kingdom" (which also starred Guy Pearce). Can't wait to see it and although we are still enjoying our vacation, can't wait to finally get back home to San Diego...

I watched the trailer for the Rover on your blog - it looks interesting! We might wait for the DVD though haha. RPattz is rocking a different accent there... sounds almost Southern hick.

Hi mary - yes, he did employ a Southern accent here. His character was pretty tragic but well done.
