I wanted Cathy to try one of their specialities here and she was quite amenable to make a stop here on our way up to Pasadena...
Last time I went here with Bert, the signage was on the other side of the building. Apparently, in 2011, it used to be Cafe Japonaise with Cream Pan next door. Then they got rid of the Cafe. Sometime between 2011 and now, Cream Pan migrated to the other side where it is now. What a different a few years makes. You can see old photos in my older post linked at the end.

I did a double take when we got here because I knew Cream Pan had been on the other side before.
Below, their price list for their pastries. You can even buy their famed strawberry croissants in bulk. If you read yelp, there are dozens of reviews where people rave about them.

We were ogling their casesfilled with their pastries and breads. There was a line here but it moved along pretty quickly. They now had a dining area and an outdoor patio. Nice.

I was tempted to buy some of their bread, but didn't since I could get it down in San Diego. I actually only wanted to get one thing here and it was not for me, but for TC.

I'm not sur eif the stuff here was just for display only or for sale.

A fresh tray of strawberry croissants was brought out while we were in line...

I've heard about Tanaka Farms before from one of justjenn's posts. In fact, here's the post where she did a summer tour last year.

This dessert looked really pretty.

More of their baked goods. OMG, just look at that blueberry danish (which they labeled as a "crussant").

They even had onigiri here, which makes sense since it is Japanese owned.

More baked goods on the racks...

This is the view was we were about to step out to their side patio. I like how it's so much more open. The older spot next door was a bit cramped. This is pretty nice.

The patio was covered with an orange cloth, making all of my outside photos orange-tinged. The patio faces El Camino Real.

Cathy's Strawberry Croissant filled with crem and fresh strawberries - saved for later. There's also the Hot Dog bread that I bought for TC.

She loves any kind of hot dog bun/bread. In our coolers these went.

Aww yeah...

These are so light and fresh! I wish this photo was in smell-o-vision!
Cream Pan does not have a website but here is an older video (the only one I found on youtube) that features their famous strawberry croissant and a few other goodies:
I regret not getting a strawberry croissant that day, but I knew we would still be hitting up more places.

With our purchases safely ensconced in our respective coolers, we finally buckled up and headed east to Pasadena. By hook or by crook, we would make it to the book signing!

If I had to choose (yet I don't, thank goodness), Cream Pan had the best pastry of this Day of Food. I am so glad you program every interesting place you read about into your Garmin!
I'm so glad that you liked it there. The banana and strawberry puff pastry stick is also good. Gosh, I want to go there again! And maybe make a stop at Manila Groove!
Oh these pastries looked good! You brought a cooler ??!!! So efficient - I'm impressed! You're going to have to share your tips on how you do a food crawl - I never thought about a cooler - I thought one would just starve themselves the night before and go crazy the next day eating :)
yes, they sure did.
a cooler is always a good thing to have when you do a food road trip.
you need to eat only a tiny bit at each place too, which is what cathy and i did. no full meals!
Oh man, I have this on my "bookmark" list of places I want to try. Looks so so good! I need to go on a food road trip, too... a cooler is such a brilliant idea.
hi mary, yeah, you would go nuts in here! it smells so good! those strawberry croissants are a must have!
