and the trio of chimneys from the nearby power plant looming ominously above...
Bert joked that the fish in the bay probably had three eyes, like in the Simpsons. Near the restaurant was a tiny park with benches to enjoy the view. On a small floating platform were some noisy sea lions whose barking echoed throughout the bay...Of course, you cannot miss Morro Rock!

Giovanni's is the oldest seafood market on the wharf and features fresh local wild caught seafood. I was hoping to try some fried bbq or smoked oysters here. I was disappointed because oysters were no longer served at Ruddell's in Cayucos. We would later find out that oysters were not yet available that particle afternoon, so strike two for the oysters. I loved that "Fish on a Stick" sign! There was a long line but it moved pretty quickly. Although there was indoor seating, it was full so we had to sit outside, which was actually better since we had a great view. The only thing was the other sign warning patrons not to leave their food alone.

I decided to get something semi healthy - a salad, but with crab. Bert chose a calamari sandwich while TC wanted clam chowder.

The clam chowder - it had a faint smoky taste and lots of clam chunks and potatoes.

My crab salad and Bert's squid sandwich with coleslaw. We shared all of our entrees. My salad was enjoyed by all, especially TC. The calamari steaks for Bert's sandwich were tender but not really flavorful. The breading was great which had a pleasant crunch.

OMG...crab galore. Yesss.

I'm glad I chose this. I felt a bit less guilty since it wasn't "fried", haha. Everything was delicious and now we were ready to walk off our lunch(es).
Here's a quick video featuring Giovanni's (and a quick glimpse of their indoor market):
Who else went to Giovanni's?
Central Coast blogger Melissa of Melissa Good Taste went here back in March 2014. It was her post that made me want to come here although I was bummed that they didn't have the oysters I really wanted
