Stop 3 - La Palapa Nayarit

If you head west from the Mariscos Isaac taco truck, you will pass by and feel the soothing and refreshing water droplets sprayed from the $3 car wash place...

on your right will be this tiny corner eatery...

which used to be the now defunct House Burger which lasted until late 2012 and lay dormant until this summer when it was reincarnated as a mariscos place, La Palapa Nayarit (Nayarit is one o 31 states in the Federal District of Mexico) .

I pass by this place every week and with the ghost of House Burger gone, thought it would be fun to go here for the food crawl. After all, it was just a few steps away from the taco truck and I'm all about maximizing our time here.  Inside, it was very BLUE and had a nautical/deep sea creature theme.

Free chips with bottled salsa as well as one that tasted like, as Jake pointed out, La Victoria (gasp!).  No bueno for t hat.

We saw that the had birria (I made a mental note to try that next time with Bert). I originally wanted the green pozole but they were out of it so I went with the red. Both Mary and Jinxi got the SAME THING. What!   They broke one of the foodblogger rules (see Darlene's "The Girl with the Donut Tattoo" for the reference, haha)...No worries though, what they got was good...

which was this, the special listed on the table...

My pozole was pretty hearty and shared with everyone at the table. It came with lime and avocado slices, shredded cabbage and chopped onions.

The sopes were a hit with Mary, Jake, T, Jinxi and S. The sope itself was a little too thick for my liking but the meat topping was pretty good! This was a good deal, since it came with a drink.

No VoG but still Mary nonetheless...

Our bill:

And should you ever go on Monday and Tuesdays...

Andale pues...

There was a sign outside advertising sushi which seemed a bit odd since this was a Mexican mariscos joint. Jake asked about it and it turns out that their chef used to work at Benihana.

There is no website but here are the reviews from you know where...

It was a little past 11 am and we headed westward to a newly opened brewery in  IB...

Well this looks like a place we are going to try. But House Burger was so fresh, getting inventory from the market next door, which doesn't sell seafood.

I hope you guys get to try this place....perhaps after getting your Tostimariscos from the Isaac truck. :)

Haha I know we broke the rules but oh well. As long as everyone is happy. Jake wants to go back here because he really really liked the beans! I thought the spree was a little to thick as well but the meat was really good.

Yes, being happy with our choices is important! Another great choice that day!
