Julian bound, but first, Ass Kickin' Jerky @ Pam's Place

Last week we headed out to Julian on Veteran's Day. This is somewhere along the 8 near Alpine...

See the clouds? They were nonexisted right when we got to the 79...

In fact it was quite sunny and beautiful  while in Julian. On our way out, it was another story....

Hardly any clouds in the sky, but with a slight nip in the air to remind us that it was Fall.

After several years of going to Julian and always passing up these signs, we finally stopped to check it out...

Just down the road was a place where we could get "ass kickin' beef jerky"...

at a small roadside stand called Pam's Place which is right next to Raintree Market...

Pam herself was there setting up her wares. She was a really nice and friendly lady and very generous with giving us samples of the jerky and the fruit. Her stand sold fresh and local grown fruits, vegetables, syrups, jams, as well as crafts such as wooden sculptures and birdhouses.  Bert was quite keen on getting a few packs of the jerky and decided on the beef, the spicy beef and a pork teriyaki. If you buy one bag, it's $5.50 or $15 if you buy 3 bags, which he did.

We were so tempted to get every flavor, but of course, only got three. My favorite was the pork jerky because it was a little softer to  bite into and had a sweet flavor.

As we were about to leave, Pam's mother came by with more produce on a truckbed...

So if you are ever out here, you may as well stop for a breather and get a few snacks while you're at it.

Awwww yeah, that pork....

Bert is still enjoying the other packs of beef jerky...

My favorite of the three was the pork jerky which we snacked on while en route to the quaint mountain town of Julian...
