I was getting so antsy and now it's here...it's here (insert maniacal laughter).

Bert and I had some time to kill since TC was still at track practice so we went to Sushi House on Telegraph...
which is in the same shopping center that once housed Vons, then Haggens, then you know the shittiness that ensued. The good news is that the old Haggens will soon become a new Ranch 99. That parking lot will be even more of a challenge to seek spaces and avoid getting run down by crazed drivers.

It's pretty narrow in here. The mirron on the right side gives the illusion of a bigger space. You can also see that like many Asian places, they like to hold on to their Christmas decorations even though it's March (poinsettia on the counter and glittery ornaments suspended from the ceiling anyone?).

Fried oysters appetizer with tonkatsu sauce. These were pretty meaty. The cabbage garnish was minimal though.

Golden Gate Roll (tuna with mango, topped with salmon and avocado) and grilled Salmon Skin roll:

The mango was on the firm and not quite ripe side, but I liked it! I liked the crunchy texture with the softer fish. There was a funny but vicious yelp review where the customer asked the server if the mango was 'in season'. The server said 'yes' then the customer got PO'd that it was not ripe. Seriously dude, "in season"? This is like the Portlandia episode where they aske which farm the chicken came from. In probably defense of the server, he or she probably didn't even understand the question and just agreed to whatever they were asked. That's what I think it was. The customer has the nerve to be upset about it.
Their grilled salmon skin roll might be on the plain side (no bonito flakes here) but wow, this was actually pretty good. The skin was so nice and crisp.

Our meal was on the smaller side. We didn't know if we would have dinner again later with TC after her practice (it turns out not).
Before we left to do some errands, I walked over to the western side of the strip mall so I could take a look at the boarded up storefront. The old

One of our errands was to go to Macy's so I could turn in my ziplock baggies of six used MAC products. If you recycle six, then you get a free lipstick (I chose Dark Side, a deep burgundy with a bit of a shine to it). Most of my lipsticks are in the same color family - DARK, ha ha. Seriously though, my color palette is pretty much the same as it's been for twenty years. My repertoire consists of Media, Rebel, Heroine, Dark Side, Hang Up, Viva Glam III and Diva - all deep burgundy/purple/reddish purple tones). No nude or pastel lip color for me, thank you very much.
Since we were at the Otay Ranch mall, I wanted to get a drink. Melt, the gelato place no longer served their Java or Mint Chip mocha or ANY mocha for that matter so we left. They need to cross it off their menu dagnabbit. The only other place that sold coffee'ish drinks was Nestle Toll House (Charbucks in Barnes & Noble was too far ).

Bert and I shared an iced mocha and one classic chocolate chip cookie.

I thought that the cookie was a bit overpriced for what it was ($1.89). I know it's less than a cookie from the Cravory by 11 cents but, really now, one cookie was just right. I didn't want to have to buy six minis for $4 (wtf).

There is no website but here are the reviews from you know where (there are a lot of really vitriolic reviewers bashing their lack of customer service; ours was decent, but then, that's yelp for you)
Previous visit to Nestle Toll House
Sometime back in 2015, since this was a "random things" post
This was the first time I've NOT used a coupon here. I must have used them all already (I'm thrifty like that, yo'). There is also a second location of Nestle Toll House at the Chula Vista mall, but since I hardly go to the west side of CV for shopping, don't find myself there. Bert doesn't really like t heir drinks (thinks they're weak) but TC really likes their milk teas with boba.
Would we return to Sushi House? Maybe for a revisit with TC with us so she could give it a try. It's her cousin's favorite place. He was eating there once with a friend and saw his high school principal and asked to take a selfie with him (he obliged!). Then the kicker was that his principal PAID for his meal! Wow, how many principals do that! My impression is that this place is a local favorite for this part of Chula Vista (kind of like how Tomodachi is the local fave for Otay Mesa). It's not gourmet sushi by any stretch and the food is pretty basic but to each their own, eh.

I'm pretty sure I haven't had a toll house cookie since I was in high school. If that! Cravory is much better in my opinion! I've seen more little restaurants around here starting to "try out" selling Cravory cookies.
Yeah, Toll House was okay for the nostalgia factor but there are much better cookies that are out there.
