Since it is under new management, it is now called El Nuevo Carrito Restaurant and is housed in a vintage streetcar complete with a kitchen inside...
We thought we would try one combination item here before picking up TC from practice. We weren't so hungry to really need one plate each...

Their menu still has the old name. Condiments were oregano and a salty chili powder mix. It was kind of irritating to not see prices on their menu. I guess they didn't want to print new menus (hence the old name on the front cover) so they covered the prices with stickers. We decided to chance it.

We ordered Combo 3 under the Mariscos section - the Garlic Shrimp (which turned out to be $12.95). We also ordered, to go, a fish taco combo for TC (not pictured) which she ended up liking. The fish in her tacos was on the thin side but .

As you can see, it's pretty tight in here. The kitchen is at the south end. Our server didn't speak English but she still could understand my Spanish ordering skills.

Our combo came with rice and beans (a small amount too), salad with avocado, a slice of lime and shrimp with fried garlic. The garlic was overly fried to the point of being bitter with a few burnt pieces so that kind of took away from the meal. The shrimp on the other hand were delicious, tender, and of a medium-large size. Our meal came with a choice of tortillas; we chose corn. I don't know if the cook normally fries the garlic this way or if we got her on a bad day or something. I just wished the garlic wasn't on the burnt side.

This event was that day. This was the telephone pole near the new Salud! tacos (which Kirk and Mary have been to). We'll have to try that eventually. The Bodega Gallery was right around the corner, next to the Frida Kahlo mural. One of my friend's nephews had some of his artwork displayed at a recent show featuring local artists (he's only 18 too).

Here was TC's fish taco combo at home (I forgot the price but it was under $10 but more than $6)

The fish portions were thin and not battered too heavily.

I didn't like that they used iceberg lettuce in there; normally, it would be cabbage. The salsa was also too hot for TC so Bert and I saved it as a condiment for a later meal.

There is no website bute here are the reviews from yelp + a short blurb from the SD Reader (showing an older photo of the streetcar before it was repainted). I would be willing to give this place another try. Brush up on your high school Spanish if you come here, but even if you don't speak Spanish, you can always point to the menu item. The ladies here are nice and there is an interesting cross mix of folks that come by here.
