The Granada Theater

Our lunch at Renaud's hit the spot so we set out to take a stroll on State Street...

and take a closer look at the Granada Theater...

which happened to be celebrating it's 90th year of existence! It was recently restored and is considered the "Crown Jewel" of Santa Barbara's historic cultural district.  You can tell this is a "dated" photo by looking at the movie listed on the marquee.

We didn't go inside but explored the spacious foyer and admired all of the arches, Spanish tilework, and the architectural ornamentation and such...

During the time of our visit, it was nearly the Summer Solstice. In fact, people were already preparing to camp out on the streets for the solstice event the next day. Streets were already being roped off...

More sights from State Street:

This is where folks were going to camp out for their prime "spots" during the Summer Solstice event.

We'll have to explore Santa Barbara in greater depth next time. It's always just "passing through" for lunch.

One of these days, we'll have to stay longer here than just a few hours. There's a lot to explore including the wharf (despite how touristy it is). My sister and her boyfriend were there recently and rented bikes and rode all over the place. Looked like fun too.

Our next destination was yet another coastal town, one with a pier that TC was excited to see...
