this time with our daughter...
It was bright and early. We were ready to take her to track practice but found out that she didn't have to go after all, so here we were once again...
The shop had many new items such as the pierced metal sacred heart lamps (there were at least four different kinds, all with various color combinations) and lovely earrings by local artists.
The tiny cactus earrings were so cute!
They also had new stamps for their cups. So...joining the Virgin of Guadalupe is the classic Praying Hands image. Our drinks were - Bert's Mexican mocha in the back, my espresso with cinnamon and brown sugar (in the middle) and TC's Mexican hot chocolate.
All of our drinks were so smooth and rich. I ordered what Bert had last time. He really liked the mocha here.
This time we also shared the Mexican chocolate brownie (there was a hint of cinnamon but it wasn't too strong) which was chock full of nuts and chocolate chips. The chocolate flavor of the brownie itself was from Ibarra (the kind used for Mexican hot chocolate).

We had a nice time chatting with one of their co-owners, Bucky Montero. She offered to show us their back patio which she had to unlock. The building itself is divided into various businesses; a collective if you will. Down the walkway was a barber, a vintage store, and an artist studio. Next to Por Vida in the front is a record store (which wasn't opened yet). The patio overlooks the 5 freeway. According to Bucky, they worked really hard to fix up the backspace, pouring concrete and building a deck. It looked quite nice with wooden box and even cinder block planters.
\The greenery on the side of the building is artificial. This seems to be a trend at a lot of places. The effect makes it look like it's been growing there forever.

I hope that this coffee shop gains more support and lasts a long time!

Since we visited Chicano Park for both visits, I'll be combining those photos for one post that's in the works. It's nice to see that Barrio Logan is getting some much deserved AND positive attention with all of the art galleries, eateries and shops popping up.
