The Not Glendora foodcrawl - Stop 1: Donut Panic

Cathy and I originally planned to drive up to Glendora this Saturday for peach donuts. She ended up going on Thursday and brought me home a box. The weekend traffic would have been quite craptastic plus it's over 80+ degress back east as well! So...in lieu of the Glendora trip, we did a local version.

Our first stop was Donut Panic over in Grantville, where we saw that they now added a club chair and a corner seating arrangement next to the record player...

It wasn't quite 9 am yet, which is when the vegan donuts start coming out. In fact, several other folks were waiting for them. Linda, the co-owner and baker came out to chat with us as well.

Saffron pistachio, chocolate, maple mock bacon and vanilla bean...

Linda was kind enough to give us both a complimentary Almond Joy vegan cupcake, made the day before for a Comic Con event. She had read Mary's post (linked at the end) which linked my post and Cathy's. I'm pretty sure she remembered my post because I mentioned the records, especially the Japanese heavy metal band, Loudness. Anyhow, it was nice that she read our posts (which we definitely did not advertise). Her offer of the cupcake was very nice and we could not refuse her generosity.

The maple "bacon" was for Bert and the cupcake for TC. I enjoyed the saffron pistachio that very morning. It's not a flavor that Linda makes very often since saffron is quite pricy.

So lovely when this is hot and fresh!

Enjoyed later by my husband and teen...

Who else went to Donut Panic?
Here is a recent writeup by Mary during her visit at the end of May! Yee haw!

Previous visit to Donut Panic:
May 2014, which was also with Cathy

I'm so happy we were able to try the saffron pistachio! It was our lucky day!

The morning had just begun...it was time to get some caffeine!

Ooh pistachio saffron sounds really interesting! I love that this donut place has such creative flavors - I really will have to check it out soon.

Cardamom with the saffron- that's what made the icing flavor stand out...and I so enjoy the vegan donut; it really is perfection and stays crispy the next day (as if much lasts until the next day). Every Friday is vegan cupcake day...and the donuts are only Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. The Mister went in and bought two day old 'regular' and one 'fresh regular' donuts one day and they all were very good, but not as imaginative. A nice neighborhood donut place that I think is an asset.

Yes, the cardamom was subtle, not overpowering cathy. these donuts are the only vegan foods i will eat, haha.

I went again recently to try the saffron pistachio and as soon as I walked in Linda said, "Hi Mary!" haha. It was funny she recognized me off the bat considering I have only been there once before. I love the vegan donuts though, I like their chewiness. So yummy!
