As we drove down Broadway in Chula Vista, we mulled over our choices and decided on this new'ish Thai place (which replaced a previous Thai restaurant) which is in the shadow of La Querencia and a few doors down from a barbershop....
The previous business barely lasted half a year. Kirk went here recently (his post linked at the end) and had their E-San sausage which is also another reason why I wanted to try this place. It's very small and sparse and manned by just one person, the owner and chef, who used to be a waitress at the original Sab e Lee in Linda Vista.

Bert and I shared an iced coffee and a papaya salad. The heat level choices were 1 to 10; being the lightweight that we are, chose a "2". Well, this "2" felt like a "5"! It was hot and tingly!

In addition to our papaya salad, Bert also selected the drunken noodles with chicken while I chose the curry puffs appetizer.

These looked just like the ones I had at Mae Ting's with Cathy, but bigger. These were served piping hot. The crust was so thick and amazingly flaky. I loved seeing the flaky layers and the crimped crust edges. The filling curried chicken with potatoes, carrots, and peas.

The parking lot here is weird. If you are traveling south on Broadway, take the 2nd driveway in, not the first. This is because of the way the parking spaces are slanted. It's really lame how this parking lot was arranged. Consider yourself warned, otherwise, try street parking which might be better. There's room for only about 6-8 cars in here.

I hope they have the E-San sausage next time we go. The portions are fair and so are the prices.
*Note - this place was once Thai Food Orange which opened mid-last year and only last a few months:
Here is my previous visit:
November 2013
Who else went to Krua Thai?
Kirk posted on this place back in May 2014 - "Krua Thai Cuisine - Sab e Lee's legacy spreads to the South Bay"
Krua Thai
686 Broadway
Chula Vista, CA 91910

There is no website, but here is their FB page and the link to you know where
The chef was really nice and came out several times to chat with us and her customers. We found the service quite friendly but laid back. We hope to go again to try a few of their other Northern Thai specialties...

Oh man the crust on those curry puffs looks awesome and super flaky! The edges kind of look like those hard twisted crunchy Filipino donuts (I don't know if those have a "real" name or not).
Very excellent these puffs were!!!!
the twisted pastry you are referring to is called 'pilipit', but those are really hard, like break your teeth hard!
