The Swell Cafe

A few days ago TC and I went out for a late breakfast...

I thought it would be cool to try a place in Mission Beach. This train of thought displayed one of the biggest brain farts I've ever had...

which is, parking near the beach in San Diego, especially Mission (PB and OB as well) sucks!!! I was lucky to find parking a few blocks away and was able to parallel park because it was at the end of a driveway and not between two cars, thank goodness. I hate parallel parking with a passion.

I searched for places in MB and this place popped up. I didn't realize it would be so $#%@ crowded and that there were hardly any places to sit. Right then and there, I felt irritated. There were NO seats at all and I made the executive decision to have our food to go while mentally thinking where the hell we would eat our food because I was unfamiliar with MB.

I briefly contemplated these two seats by the newspapers stack, but no.

TC saw two spots open up on the patio and even though they were out in the full sun, we took those spots immediately. Because we thought we were going to take our food to go, TC changed her original choice from coconut pancakes (which looked pretty good) to a BLT with a side of potato salad (from a choice of fruit, fries or a bag of chips) that we could share.  The portion size was just right and the bacon within was plentiful and thick. We both enjoyed our sandwiches very much. TC also enjoyed her vanilla freeze here. I would end up getting my drink at another spot down the street...





The servers here were very nice. The vibe was chill as I thought it would be, but I just hated thinking that we wouldn't be able to get a seat the whole time we were in line. I guess I'm uptight like that.

Surf themed artwork in the bathroom plus a sidewalk sign for the Secret Cookie Service (which Kirbie has posted on several times times). I'm thinking they sell their cookies here or something.


I felt kind of bad that TC couldn't get the coconut pancakes she originally wanted but maybe we will do a return visit in the offseason when it's not so busy.
