The French Patisserie Inc.

By this time the heavy rain had subsided although there was still a misty drizzle while driving through the small beach town of Pacifica...

which is also the hometown of former SNL comedian/actor Rob Schneider (who is half Filipino by the way)...

He is the star of such ummmm Oscar worthy films as, "Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo", "The Animal", "The Hot Chick" and "Grown Ups" (that last one I haven't watched). He also was in several cameo role in Adam Sandler film.  You may remember him as the guy saying this particular phrase in "The Waterboy":

or maybe you remember him as the buffoonish Ula, the milky eyed Hawaiian in "50 First Dates":

I kind of think it's funny how he's making his (most likely) fake Hawaiian chant sound Elvis-like. He once played a character named "Tiny Elvis" in SNL.

But I digress...

Many nice neighborhoods were nestled in the hillside overlooking the ocean.

The bakery we were looking for wasn't really a bakery but more of a wholesale business.

It's on the outer edges of Pacific and looking at the outside, you wouldn't think that this place churns out fancy French desserts. If you look at their front door, you will see that the door handle is a giant whisk, which was quite clever.

The folks working here were very nice. I'm not sure if they are used to random visitors like us looking to buy desserts in bulk.

We bought two boxes of macarons for $20 per 3 dozen. One box had regular flavors (chocolate, pistachio, strawberry, etc) while the other had different colored shells with contrasting filling.  The lady who boxed this up for us threw in several large chunks of dry ice in the box which really helped preserve these for the next day and a half.

Prior to heading back down the coast, we stopped by some random coffee shop in Pacifica to use the bathroom. At the end of that particular street, we thought we'd cross and look over the ocean...

It wasn't raining but it was still very very cold and windy. I was so nervous being out there because I didn't want any accidents to happen. I'm such a worrywart like that.

I'm sure the town of Pacifica looks much much better in sunnier days!

Fast forward to the comfort of our home a few days later. The macs survived the trip since they were in that box with dry ice as well in molded plastic protectors.

This batch were the regular flavors. With each box of three dozen, each macaron ended up being only .55 each! What a deal!

My favorite was the coffee macaron which had a strong flavor. My least favorites were the lavender (you can see the lavender bits in the shell) and the chocolate which had an Earl Grey filling.

Here were the more unusual flavors from the other box:

My favorite was the chocolate/orange combination.

I ended up diving the 6 dozen macs into containers for friends and my sister. Not bad for buying in bulk, eh?

It was worth seeking this place out!

Kirbie also posted on the macarons in a previous food gifts post.

We still had a ways to go before Gilroy. Lunch would end up being next while driving down the Pacific Coast Highway...

Man, that is a sweet deal for the macarons! Total score for you! They look pretty, too, with the colors. Again, I love the cloudy beach scenes :)

It is a great deal as long as you don't mind buying 3 dzn at once, but then, for $20 for the lot, that's way cheaper than most places that sell macs separately at $2 or more each.

It'd be great for a party or to give away as gifts! Though I don't think I'll be nearby anytime soon haha.

if there was a place like this in SD, that would be cool!
