Return to the Elegant Truffle

After our amazing lunch at Supannee House of Thai, we saw that the Elegant Truffle was literally a few steps away...

We had to give it a another try...

Originally I wanted us to try Fathom Bistro again on Shelter Island before the Thai place (they are now open at 12 noon on weekends), but our meeting ran so long that I didn't want to go anymore, especially since they didn't have "real" food but more like fried snack foods.

We just wanted to try something new plus get some coffee (another for Bert!)...

On the counter were chocolate covered caramels; in the case were cookies (lemon ricotta and mini spicy chocolate cookies), two types of biscotti (chocolate with almonds and cranberries and white chocolate with macademia nuts and candied ginger), and brownie bites.

They had several cakes to offer - I don't remember what "Evil One" was, but their most popular one is the OMG Cake (it's like Death by Chocolate), and frosted carrot cake bars (which reminded me of thicker Zingers). On top of the display case were several types of Angel food cakes, all of which looked tempting...

The ladies gave us samples of their carrot and OMG cake. Both were good, but we ended up getting the non-cake items, plus an iced mocha for me.
Unfortunately the iced coffee wasn't that good at all. The chocolate was kind of clumped up in the drink. It didn't dissolve smoothly and it had a gritty mouthfeel. Of the two biscotti, I liked the chocolate one much better. It was also more crisp than its counterpart. I like things to have a crunch or a bit of texture to them. The chocolate covered caramel was a bit of a rip off at $2.50 a piece. Yikes. It was good but not $2.50 good. The biscotti were also overpriced in my opinion ($3 each).

A cool utility box featuring the San Diego skyline on the same block...

As we drove home via Harbor Drive, we noticed the banners advertising the Comic Con in full effect. In fact, the Con is happening right now (it started yesterday) and will end this Sunday.

Gone are the days when we could just buy our ticket the day OF the Con! Now it's sold out a year in advance! WTF!

Who else went to the Elegant Truffle?

Previous visit to the Elegant Truffle:
October 2012

I'm not sure if a return visit would be in order, as nice as the ladies are over here. I wish they had a place to sit down and enjoy the items. There is no room inside the store for tables and chairs and there is only one lone bench outside.

Do they have truffles at Elegant Truffle? I was expecting to see all truffle photos, not cakes, haha.

Yes, they do have them but I didn't buy any. I don't think I bought one last time either. They were like $4 or something. They are seen in my first post though.
