I knew it was a side street near Talbots, which was still closed to through traffic, but we ignored the signs anyways and drove through...
I remember the last time Bert and I tried exploring, we went to Harborview and Lucinda...

My other house...I WISH! Ha ha! This is how the other half lives!

These homes have million dollar views!
We parked at the top of the hill and took in the scenery. We realized that if we walked farther down, we would have to walk UP this very steep hill in 80+ weather. I didn't wear shorts that day and I was already burning up! So no walking uphill for us!
You can see Shelter Island below and sailboats in the bay...

With a few minutes to spare, we made to Supannee around noon.

The rockfish was on our minds and YES we wanted it.

The sausage I'd been dreaming of having again about for a week was ordered. I think it is safe to say that Cathy enjoyed these fresh house made sausages filled with roughly cut pork (not ground), Kaffir lime leaves, spices, and lemongrass...

Here was the Fried Rockfish in all of its glory ($25). You can see the toothpick inside propping up the head. This was quite impressive to look at but even much more exciting to eat! The fish was fried to perfection and topped with a plethora of red and green peppers, mushrooms, fried and fresh herbs, onions, and shallots in a slightly spicy chili tamarind sauce.

Mmmm, meaty...

Fried crunchies...

We liked this so much, there were no leftovers for our husbands!

Okay, I lied! I took home the vegetables and delicious sauce for Bert to enjoy with rice later (and to feel the burn, haha). But yeah, there was NO meat left after we were through.

That was the Rockfish. Next time, the Perch!
Great minds must think alike because I just noticed that Cathy posted on our visit, so...hot off the press:
Supannee House of Thai (Point Loma)
Previous visit to the Las Playas neighborhood:
January 2014
Previous visit to Supannee Thai:
last week!
I'm already plotting planning our next visit! Some friends are visiting from out of town and are staying near Shelter Island so maybe, just maybe...

Great photos! Great food. Great memories. Must return to try more of the menu!
Thank you for sharing the meal, for driving, and for the morning/afternoon of fun stops.
Love that beautiful view! I thought briefly of trying to come here for July 4th but seemed like way too much trouble. Those sausages look great and the fish sounds fantastic. I like that the pork isn't ground and you can see every ingredient.
That view is great! You must try those sausages man! And the fish too! I've tried the rockfish AND the perch (that post is forthcoming)....both are excellent!
