Desserts at Nijiya

After lunch we all wanted to get something sweet next door at Nijiya.

As luck would have it, the cream puffs table was there!

Apparently, fresh cream puffs aren't available all the time, so I wanted to get a couple for Bert and myself for tonight.

Just look at these cute little cream puffs peeking underneath...

One of the ladies came over to help us. Here she is sprinkling powdered sugar on top...

Cathy also got a cream puff to ejoy...

Before leaving, I got a few other dessert items for our wedding anniversary desserts. Notice that it's plural.  So....a couple of these...

One taro and one strawberry...I didn't want the plain one since I was getting two fresh cream puffs.

Since I was waiting to eat the fresh, I devoured the taro cream horn outside. The green melon pan was Dennis's dessert.

The exterior was nice and soft and the filling very sweet and violaceously violet hued. I am a sucker for purple anything.  Plus, the magazine had the word "purple" on the cover.

The soft sugary crust of the melon pan was delicious and had a hint of honeydew flavor. TC would have loved this dessert, but everytime we go here, she always gets the  melon ice cream bar.

I bought a box of these Milk Chocolate Salty Pocky sticks. I think these would have been way better if the chocolate was dark instead of milk. Bitter and salty just like my language.

And here are those cream puffs later on that evening. Even though it was seven hours after I bought it, the cream puffs still tasted lovely and fresh. Much much better than those shitty stale cream puffs we bought at the SD Fair! Biting into these was like biting into a cloud of fluffy goodness. So good that I wanted to traipse happily on a meadow of daisies and shoot rainbow lasers out of my eyeballs.

Here was another dessert I bought. These were different than the flat pink mochi peanut butter mochi patties that Nijiya carries (made by Fugetsu-do in L.A.). No, these white and brown mochis were made by Chikara Mochi in Gardena.

So soft and delectable these were...

and oozing with creamy peanut butter with every bite. Okay, just two or three bites if you're trying to be polite, or if you're  a pig, just one bite. You have to be careful with mochi. Don't want to choke there, do ya!

I think I like these PB mochis almost as much as the pink ones from Fugetsu.  These are like little mochi bon bons. Love it!

Tomorrow we would be trying something new for our wedding anniversary lunch...

I shared mine with The Mister. So good. We only saw the puffs here twice last year...must be seasonal, or weekend only as well as seasonal.
