Return to Lil' Piggy's

Last weekend we took advantage of the beautiful weather by heading out to Coronado Island...

It was time to utilize my coupon book so we could have lunch here at Lil' Piggy's Bar-B-Q!

Hmmm, looks good but we wanted something else...

They've got a great beer selection here...

100 different kinds to be exact!

So many sides to choose from...

We got the Beef Brisket (big' portion) and the Baby Back Ribs plates (lil portion). With our coupon, the lower prices entree was free! Yahoo! And no having to buy two beverages either. I hate it when coupons do that because beverags unnecessarily jack up the cost of the bill.

The view from our table...

Ah yes, more Rogue craft beer from Oregon. We liked this one almost as much as their Chocolate Stout. We were talking with our waitress and suggested that she try it with ice cream next time. Beer floats are awesome if you have good quality ingredients! She was quite enthusiastic and knew the beer menu quite well here. She was also a fan of dark beers.

Gotta have paper towels at this place. You can't really eat in a "genteel" manner here. Plus, they give you an individual wet wipe at the end.

Our two entrees which we all shared of course.

Our beef brisket with garden salad and ranch dressing on the side. The corn fritters were MIA but on their way...

The other entree (which TC enjoyed the ribs the most) was a rack of four baby back ribs, onion "rangs" (that's how they're spelled on the menu), baked beans, and two slices of white bread. The ribs were tender and very saucy!

The corn fritters. I liked these little nuggets! One and one half was good enough. They can be heavy if you have more than two. The corn inside is also really fresh, like cut off of cob fresh.

Honey butter melting slowly into the fritters...

Ooh, see the smoke ring on the brisket? The meat was good but some parts were too fatty. This doesn't compare to the quality at Coop's. I think I've been spoiled after having had Coop's version of bbq'd brisket. But this was a decent rendition and would have been better if were a bit leaner. That being said, the meat was so tender and soft and tasted so good when dipped into the house bbq sauce.

The Ferry to downtown SD is now $7! I remember when it was less than $5 not too long ago...

Just a gorgeous view of downtown San Diego from the Ferry Landing.

Right now, our Downtown is being invaded by Comic Con!  After 2009, we stopped going since it because ridiculously impossible to get tickets!

Previous visit to Lil Piggy's - September 2009 (for Robsessed Husband's 40th birthday)

Any favorite bbq places that you recommend?
