Hong Kong style waffles, tea, boba drinks, and a few hot snacks. I'd never seen these types of waffles before so of course we were curious and wanted to try it! There were three flavors (seen below):
MRC ordered one of each. What was cool about the waffles were the "egg" shape! I was watching this guy pour the batter into the wafflemaker...
We were lucky to snag an empty table in the back but we had to snake some chairs from another table to fit all of us.
Each of the waffles were in a paper bag which we immediately freed them so we could devour them.
The waffles had a pliable texture. Not too crisp or brittle, and although there was a bit of a crispness on the outside to them, they were spongey on the inside.The eggy pieces tore apart quite easily and it's a perfect snack to share with others. I liked that you could also pull off individual egg sized pieces and eat it that way instead of a huge hunk. The pieces
had a nice chew to them but an extra Eggette waffle that MFC bought must have been one that stayed in the waffle iron a tad too long because it was kind of crispy.
The flavor in this one wasn't so chocolatey; it had just a faint hint of cocoa flavor...
I really liked the coconut Eggette...Most of us liked either the coconut and the original.
Taiwanese pop music pand videos were playing on the flat screen tv...
The five of us polished off the three waffles pretty quickly... Our next stop was right next door...

Tamara Palmer of SF Weeklyblogs wrote about Eggette's back in 2008. Turns out they had Honeydew flavor waffles back then.

Those are some crazy looking waffles. It's neat that you can take off one egg piece to eat.

hi mary - i looked online and you can buy those egg waffle pans, but they look like too much work!
That's cool you can buy the waffle pan, but then you'd have to store it .. and how many times would you actually use it... that's always the problem with new appliances!
personally, i wouldn't buy or use the waffle pan. i'm too lazy and yeah storage is a problem. it's really not worth it to buy gadgets that make only one thing either.
I love this stuff! i was tempted to buy a pan a while back, but I haven't come across an authentic recipe yet, so I ended up not buying the pan.
