Patrick Amiot Sculptures on Florence Avenue, Sebastopol

Bert read online about a street in Sebastopol where practically every house had a cool sculpture...

The street was Florence Avenue and it also happens to the same street that the artist and his wife/artistic partner live.

If you enter Floreve Ave on the western end, you will see the Tardis...

You will know you are in the right place!  All over Sebastopol, near businesses, the roadside and people's homes, there are many of these quirky repurposed metal sculptures. In fact, we saw one the other day at California Carnivores

Although I do not watch Doctor Who, I was aware of what that blue box was, (a TARDIS) and immediately thought of fellow blogger friends Mary and Darlene.

This would never fly in the neighborhoods down in San Diego where home owner associations police and suppress individuality, ha ha.  These sculptures fit right into this quaint town..  Florence Avenue isn't that long of a street, but what they do have are cute homes with interesting artwork right on their front yards. Many of the sculptures were created by Patrick Amiot and his wife Brigitte Laurent. They use found scrap materials and recreate them into art.

We recognized a lot of figures from pop culture (and even fairy tales); many of their animal or humans are depicted manning some sort of transport whether it was a car, train, or bike. It was really fun to walk from house to house to see these sculptures up close.

This was the artist's home. He had many large sculptures as well as a couple of painted cars out in front.

Every house and yard was unique. A far cry from San Diego's manicured suburbs.

This was one of my favorites.

Plus the dog too!

All this walking was taking its toll. It was time for lunch at an interestingly named place only a few minutes away...
