We walked down the main drag where many seafood restaurants abound. One of the most popular is The Splash Cafe, known for their clam chowder. There are painted murals with clams on their exterior walls.
Across the street is one of their competitors, Brad's. Gosh, I love that fish shaped sign!
Their classic car show was being set up...
And near the pier, the Pismo Beach Farmer's Market was in full swing.
Look at how huge those curly kale stalks are! Beautiful, vibrant and fresh produce is everywhere in the Central Coast.
Of course, we can't forget the snacks...
and the drinks!
Enjoyed this we did.
The watermelon agua fresca was so refreshing! I also picked up a few fresh fruits for us to enjoy the next day.
Pismo Beach is a classic California beach town. Even though it was not sunny, it was great to see folks both local and tourists, out and about enjoying the farmer's market, the beach and of course, the Pismo Beach Pier. The current pier was built in 1924 but was damaged in a major storm in the early 1980's. The pier was repaired and restored in 1986 and is one of the most heavily fished and productive piers on the Central Coast.

This pier was not just a straight pier but had jutting sides in intervals along the sides of the pier. It was perfect for the many folks hoping to catch some fish...

Is it just me but do those clams look vaguely...nasty?
This area was getting prepped for the Pismo Classic Car Show which is a really big event. We had the privilege of seeing the car show four years ago.

Staying at Pismo Beach was a bit too touristy. Our hotel was inland in the farming community of Santa Maria where we would end up having our dinner...
