Yellow Sky

Last weekend, I attended a baby shower for my friend's daughter...
It was quite lovely, with a lavender, black and white color theme wih damask and the Eiffel Tower as the other design elements. There were desserts galore (full post will be forthcoming)...

It was also an excuse to dress up. My friend is one of my workout galpals and we normally don't see each other in clothes other than workout clothes...

No pitstained t-shirs, or sweat soaked workout pants here folks.

Outfit deets:
Merona asymetrical pleated tank ($17.99 from Target/also comes in blue/black/purple floral and fuchsia and black 80's style thin stripes), a gray mini-pencil skirt from Banana Republic (7 years old - it was from the outlet and cost less than $15 on clearance), which I like because it has pockets and yellow fake suede wedges (Mix No. 6 from DSW) as seen in a previous post with bird jewelry. The bracelet (no closeup) was the liquid silver one bought  two and a half years ago from Patina Boutique on Solano Ave in Berkeley.

I liked the top because it's made of knit jersey and isn't too "clingy"; the ruching in the front was also a nice touch. I didn't have to suck it in too much, ha ha. The yellow and gray combo is a neat mix. The asymetrical top was also cool looking because the one shoulder is so very "Wilma Flintstonish" when my hair covers the left side.

The earrings were from Francesca Boutique ($16), a store that I need to stop going to! I normally don't like paying that much for earrings, but I was really enamored of the blingy football shape with an arch of rondelle beads and a cascade of crystal drops interspersed with gold headpins with white tube beads. I really liked the mix of textures.

Such an intricate but fun design. They're also feather light so no worries about droopy Buddha earlobes.

Post title taken from this song by Book of Love. No performance or actual video, just the song:

Every song on their eponymous first album (1986) was awesome! What 80's obsessed music fan doesn't love, "You Make Me Feel So Good", and "Modigliani (Lost in your Eyes), and "I Touch Roses"?

Up next, sugar and carb overload!
