Thai Noon

Damn, these chicks are awesome!

We were so bummed that we weren't able to catch a roller derby match while in Portland. A few days earlier in our trip, the Breakneck Betties were set to play against the Guns 'n Rollers. The tickets were already sold out. We'll have to catch a match in San Diego with our local teams. One of my friend's younger sister is on a team and we can't wait to see her in action...

After our quick dessert stop at Pix Patisserie, we headedover to the Alberta Arts district for lunch...

On our first day in Portland, we were in this area to have a late breakfast at Pine State Biscuits and donuts later at Tonalli's. There were a lot of cute little shops in this neighborhood, which we learned has been gentrified over the years into an area known for the arts.

Even though we usually try not to repeat cuisines whenever we travel, we decided on Thai again at Thai Noon.

Our flight back to San Diego was around 8 pm so we had lots of time to kill before heading to the airport.

As Beavis and Buthead would have said, "It's uh High Noon on MY sun dial, heh heh heh"...

That's Carmen Electra by the way. Sounds like she was a Prince protege.

I know, I know...but I have to admit, Beavis and Buttheard were pretty funny when they first came out. Can you believe those first episodes of B&B are TWENTY YEARS OLD now? Yikes!

Three of the specials we chose.

Very nice folks here. Our three entrees...

Guess whose this was?     Pause.   Sigh.  Yes, it's TC's Pad Thai with chicken. So predictable.

My Spicy Sweet Basil with chicken...

and lastly, Bert's Broccoli with Oyster Sauce, also with chicken.

Of course, we shared from each other's plate. The food was filling and tasty. We would be good to go until dinner later that day...

We wanted to explore a tiny bit of the neighborhood before moving on to another part of PDX...

Yeah, Carmen Electra owes her "big break" to Prince. Big rumor was that they were hot and heavy, and he "bankrolled" her musical aspirations.

Yeah, it's a shame that Beavis and Butthead came back, but no one really noticed. Shows like "Tosh.O" follow the Beavis and Butthead model. The 'music video commentary' format is now an antiquated curiousity.

hi supe, yeah, i vaguely remember the carmen electra/prince connection. am not surprised. this was way before dennis rodman, and briefly, joan jett, and the guitarist from jane's addiction. who hasn't she been with is the question.

haven't watched tosh o., but shows like Mystery Science Theater 3000, B&B have pretty much paved the wayfor stuff like VH-1's pop up videos (which I loved and I miss) and Riff Trax.
